Updated with pics! 1998 Mercedes-Benz black SLK230 that was mistreated! Next step??

Hey guys, thanks for the advice!! Claying really cleaned up the car nice. Now I don't know where to go from here. The little white spots are gone for the most part, especially the trunk and back area, but some few still remain on the hood. What do I do next to remove scratches and swirl marks??? I got a 6" orbital buffer/polisher .5A 2600rpm. See previous thread here

Since car has VERY SMALL surface area considering the rubber molding at the bottom and size of car, it only took me about 2 hours to do it. Now when I pass my hand through it, it is completely smooth. KEEP IN MIND that the pictures taken are not in daylight, the garage creates a complete black room and the flash from the camera generates a lot of white lite. In daytime the car looks almost flawless. BUT I am greedy and want more of the PRECIOUS SHINY!! LOL! Still need more opinions on what to use next???

I like 3M Swirl mark remover for dark cars for the swirls.

Pinnacle Souveran Car Wax was great on black. It is a bit pricey...but damn this stuff goes on so nice.

Classic Motoring Accessories is a great place to buy supplies.

Thanks Dartworth, read up on the info but now I have more questions. Should I use a compound first or just go straight to polishing and then finish?? Can I just use compounding on specific parts of the car and not the whole thing?!??! Like just the parts where my car got keyed on the hood a bit?

Look'en good...There are lots of ways to go. What I said in the original thread was not a lie..Google System One and read the reviews. Not a swirl mark in black a finish when it's used..........

Di it by hand. you can burn through the finish easily with a power buffer. I burned through in less than 30 seconds on my Prelude.

BTW, because I am SO ANAL about the paint, last nite while i wuz at a party i pulled up in it and guy said "nice, car, what year is it--like '04??? I just smiled and said, nah, its a 98.

Dunno what they're normally worth but I was thinking the opposite. it's 5 years old but those miles are pretty low and the car starts much higher in price. I'd think that if he sorts out the paint properly he could turn around and sell for a profit.
