Fuzzybabybunny, is that you? I thought this was a parody thread at first, especially once I read the weak neck line.

How come no one is flaming the OP for getting a 1000cc bike being so new he's not even able to wear a helmet comfortably?

Yeah I was kinda expecting more flames.

If anyone has glove recommendations (what brand, what type, where to buy online) I'm all ears. If they have yellow that would be cool but black is fine. I don't plan to wipe but high abrasion resistance gloves are a must.

He already bought it. Kind of pointless don't you think?

I picked up a pair of Dainese Hellracer gauntlet gloves from Cycle Gear about 2 years ago on sale for $100 (they normally sell for $159). I have probably 10,000 miles riding on these gloves and they still feel great, give excellent feel for the controls and they're Dainese which means they're among the best motorcycle apparel on the planet.

This makes me wonder. Is it possible to safely detune your bike so it's much less powerful? Restrict the intake?

If it's not already equipped with such a device it isn't likely to be something you could easily modify the bike to do. Aprilia has this on some of their bikes and BMW has it on their new S1000RR.

I've ridden some fast bikes and it can be unnerving when that front wheel lifts under moderate acceleration. I was test riding a Ducati Monster 1100 S and it will lift the front wheel easily even though it only has 95hp.

These come stock detuned (too many people were flipping them apparently) in 1st-3rd or 4th gear (retarded ignition timings). TRE mod that the previous owner installed tells the computer it's in 6th all the time so that it provides full power. Needless to say I have this turned off.
