I never, ever, ever have anyone ride in the back, and I am almost always hauling stuff around for my "business" or wood for building projects, etc. So when I was cleaning my car out, I decided I might as well remove the fold down seats as it would give me more room, and I could store them somewhere safe to keep them in good shape.

I feel kinda bad though since the car only has 21k miles and it is an '05... but I already abuse it to haul crap around all the time.

I tossed some plywood in there cut roughly to fit, but when I get more time I will cut it exactly to fit and cut a few rubber runners to line it with.

lol, oy

added carpet padding and some "carpeting" I found at menards that matches really well with my cars interior.

And the idea of a truck didn't cross your mind because...

Don't say MPG either.

Perfectly valid question. We own a 2004 Mazda and a 2005 Tiburon. Bought the tiburon 10 months ago, way before starting this small side business, and when I was commuting a lot daily.

I would love to have a truck but I live in the city and we only have 2 spots, in the garage, if I parked on the street my wife would have to move the truck every day to the other side of the street, plus I use the car about 4-6 times a month for hauling stuff for the most part, so having a speciality vehicle just for that would be overkill.

I can haul about as much in the tiburon as in a 6' truck bed. Ive had 24 2x4s 8' , and a bunch of other stuff one time when i loaded it down, and 600 lbs of feed once.

I think he meant truck instead of Tiburon.

Wait a minute!

There are small trucks that are design for commuting & light hauling purposes.

It could be better taking a lost with a trade in instead of ruining/quickly depreciating the car. A good used pickup wouldn't be too hard on the pocket book.

I only use it for hauling 4-6 times a month at most, and Ive already taken steps to insure the car keeps its value and to limit wear and tear on the inside.
