BTW, do not linkify. Their links contain session IDs which don't work if removed.

Update: to get to the free DVDs, click on the "chili pepper" icon on the main electronics page. There's a limited selection to choose from but you should be able to trade them in at a B&M store because they usually have liberal trade-in policies during the holiday season.

cant find the portable dvd player... is this stuff new?

Nevermind.. .found it...

I think the PIONEER PDVL10(Portable DVD/CD/CD-R Player-7 which is 7 inches instead of 5 is a better deal at $599.
Anyone know if the pioneer is good quality screen or any other recomendations on a portable DVD player?

i believe massmerchandise.com is another company run by audiohighway.com. they ran massmusic.com when they had a great sale on dvd's a year ago. everyone was charged multiple times and it took a long time for some to fix it. I had a page of charges and credits on my statement from them. make printouts of everything in case you have to contest this :) . Good luck!

Hey, they got Sharp Portable MD player/recorders below $100.
Even though they are old model, but Sharp MD is pretty good in quality. One example, it use lithium ion rechargeble battery for longer use.

Those two JVC VCR's would be hot deals, but the transport mechs on the x600 models are crap. The Quasar one they have isn't half bad though (bought one when Sam's Club cleared them out a few weeks ago @ $52.91)

Wow, Diamond Rio 500's for only $150! And there's a $50 rebate available from the Diamond Website.

Crap, both of the descriptions list it as "Purple," but the headers say "Teal" and "Purple."

I wouldn't touch the Purple one with a 10 Foot Pole, but the Teal one is cool.

Hopefully, they really mean that they have both.

*EDIT* Nothing wrong with the Purple one; I just think it's ugly. :)

He means that the mechanical contruction is not very good. I second this. I have the JVC HR-S9500u, which is the predecessor (BTW, the normal street price on the 9600 is like $400!) to the 9600. It's a really nice machine, but the mechanical construction is not very good. I knew that when I bought it. There really is no good SVHS machine out there. My only other option was the Mitsubishi 795, which is FAR superior mechanically, but does not have as many features. In the end, I decided I was willing to live with the inferior construction of the JVC for the features I needed.
However, I would question the decision to buy a panasonic. IMHO, EVERYTHING on the Panasonics SUCK. Their commercial ones are great, but they are also $1000. Their consumer machines (at least in my experiance) have difficulty loading a tape even. I would put them WAAAAAAAAY below the JVC.
BTW, overall, the JVC 9500/9600 is a VERY nice VCR, the picture is amazing. I can be watching a tape and I'll forget I can fast forward, it looks that good.

Check the shipping link on the left side of the site. Electronics was like $5 plus .50 each pound or something like that, not bad.

Looks like 1) it's a recently discontinued model & 2) no firewire - in fact, no real digital out at all - $300 still seems like a great deal though.
