*UPDATED THREAD* S/PDIF doesn't work...

I have my PC hooked up to my reciever and am using AC3 for my sound handling. I have a p5q deluxe with SoundMAX Blackhawk onboard audio.

For some reason, ever since I reinstalled Windows Vista Ultimate x86, I haven't been able to get sound coming out of my 5.1 speakers. The 2.1 logitech system that is also hooked up plays without a problem.

I think it's an AC3 software problem but am not sure because I don't have a lot of knowledge with audio equipment/software. Any ideas?

Should be an option in your sound drivers to enable SPDIF or digital output. Until you do this, most cards will disable it. You shouldn't need AC3filter(which I assume is what you are referring to) just to get general audio out your digital output.

Take a screen capture of all your driver settings so we can see what your current setup is like.

After my most recent problem I uninstalled AC3 and went back to default drivers. Now whenever I try to switch from my desktop speakers (2.1 Logitech) to the SPDIF interface so I can get audio out of my surround system, it won't play unless I switch from the Playback to the Recording tab. This happens repeatedly as long as i have SPDIF set as the default. With the speakers there is no problem whatsoever.

I have a Asus P5Q Deluxe with the default drivers installed. Here is a picture of all components. The HDMI comes from my 4850.
