Nice post, I was looking at the MSI R6950 Twin Frozr II for $229 also...now I have three options

Does anyone know out of these cards which can be unlocked?

I posted about this card at Slick Deals. If you have a discover card you can use ShopDiscover for 5% off at Tiger Direct, brings it down to $216.75. Pretty good IMHO. Here is the SD thread:

To answer your question, some people are reporting success at unlocking this card. However performance gains are only 3-5%. I think the biggest benefit comes from the fact it is a good overclocker, and can get to 6970+ speeds.

Anyone know what 6950's are unlock-able to 6970?

The vast majority of 6950 models currently available are not unlockable. It they are, they'll advertise a bios switch as a feature. It was the reference 6950 that was unlockable and not advertised as such, and it is no longer available at most stores.
