Updated pics of the finger

I did that to my left thumb years ago.. looked just like your finger and bled all over the place.. There was blood on the dock where it happened, the gravel road to the steps, every step, and through the kitchen to where I cleaned it. Probby a cup of blood.. was so disgusting and I couldn't make it stop until I put a bandaid on it really tight.

I was trying to crack a coconut with a large, super-sharp diver's knife while I didn't notice the nearby pelican walking closer and closer to me. And then, I hear a loud squawk behind me and I was startled. I ended up pulling the serrated edge of the diver's knife right over my left thumb where I was holding the coconut.

Stupid pelican.

Haha sh!t, stupid pelican indeed man. How long did it take to heal?

The doc said that the black part will eventually shrink and fall off, but I'm not seeing this happen. Ideas?

It's sad that I have nothing better to do than to look at pictures of your finger.

And I have nothing better to do than post them. I slept for 18 hours today, I'm totally wired.

Electric hedge trimmer

I feel your pain man. Typing was a bear for a while - especially since it's my job.

Oh, and not too long after that - I had my own Utility knife incident😛 I buried it in my knee when shaving a chunk of nylon at work.

Two trips to the ER in two months. The guys at work started to call me Tim😛

I still can't believe that pelican came right up to me and squawked.. It was like he was trying to scare me. I couldn't help but laugh about it, though. I think in the initial startling, before I knew I was cut and the pain kicked in, I was laughing.

Mine looked just like that.. though, I thought the black part looked more like a really dark red part. Evidently, I had enough blood flow in that 'flap' of skin that it stayed alive and it stayed as part of my thumb. I thought for sure it was going to fall off. But, I kept it tightly bandaged for I think about three weeks to prevent it ever catching on something and pulling apart again. It was sensitive for three to four weeks and almost entirely healed in five weeks. I did use neosporin and I poured alcohol on it once or twice. I think the neosporin is what really helped to seal it up.

I have a 3/8" scar on my thumb that isn't too noticeable and the 'flap' is a slightly less-pink color. It's not that bad of a scar.

pft... call me once you have done something like this.....My Fingers

(sorry for the bad quality, at work & only had phone camera with me.....)

On a serious note, your finger will heal but you'll have a scar for a long time...... It's not a bad thing, scars are a great converstion starter....
