I was going to test my mobo and processor to see if it posted. All I installed was mobo, cpu, and vid card. I hooked up the atx power connector to the mobo and then started placing the other led connectors on the board. However, 2 are messing me up. They are the System Power LED lead(pwr.led) and the speaker Led. The reason for this is that the power LED has 3 pin slots and the speaker led has 4. However on the lower right hand corner of the board where these are supposed to go, there are only 2 pins for each? How am I supposed to connect them to 2 pins when they have 3 and 4 slots respectively. However each connector only has 2 wires going to them, but they are split apart by dead slots. So I tried sliding the slot the power wire of each connector went to into the power pins on the mobo and just leaving the ground dangle. However, when I tried to boot nothing happened. I made sure that I turned the power supply on first and I repeatedly pushed the power button on the front of the case. I know that it has to be that danged power.led that is messing things up. Anyone have a solution for me. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

ya break out the manual... and if doesn't work... flip the connector over.... also make sure you orient the diagram the same way your looking at the mobo:)

Hey Mears,

I installed for my GF parents not to long ago.

Just check the manual and it will make sense.

If it takes more than 15 minutes to figure ... check back here I will download the manual online and help you out.

Uhm, look at the manual 1 more time. I just looked to see if maybe the manual had a few errors.

If you look at page 40, it shows where each one goes, and it does show 4 slots for the speaker and 3 for the power LED.

Just look again. You'll figure it out.

When I put together my first computer with the BH6, I had a few problems getting it to start, and it was my brother who had to show me to connect the "power LED" switch. DUH!!

Can happen to anyone.

Just look at page 40 , and I think it'll make sense.

lo ;)

if i remember rightly, as long as u have the power switch leads connected right u can put the other leads on any way u want and it will still boot.
if it fails to boot then its more than likely that ur processor is not seated properly - needs a really firm hand ;)
also the same goes for ur agp card.
one of these 2 has always been the culprit for me :(

heres how my leads are orientated:-

starting from top right hand pin, pin1 (red)/pin4 (black)=speaker, pin8 (yellow)/pin10 (white)=power LED
starting from bottom right, piin11 (black)/pin12 (white)=reset switch, pin14 (red)/pin15 (white)=ATX power switch
2 pins just below this cluster=IDE HDD LED

also is ur ATX power connector seated properly?

and this might seem really daft ;) but ive done it a few times - is ur power switch on the back of ur ATX power supply switched on?

hope this gives u some ideas :D

good luck, and hope u get it working - all the frustration'll be forgotten when u get it goin :)

rockhard :)

Make sure you're not looking at it sideways. I did that when I was installing a K7M and when I realized what my problem was I felt like a phuqqin dumbass!! :p

heh it's those little obscure things that seem to mess us all up. the power LED's, Activity LED's.. I know I've done it too..

they should make them all into one connector, sortof like the power supply one, so that you have a standard for all, and then don't have to worry about it, cause it's really irritating getting those small things going..

Ok, here is what is going on now. Sorry it took so long, I was at work. I got the connections figured out except for maybe the HDD led. Would white be negative in that situation or would red be negative?

This is what is happening now. I got the thing to turn on. The green led lights up for the power and the monitor switches to a grayish color. However, there are not messages and the speaker doesn't kick in and do anything. I've tried different placements of the speaker led, but still nothing. Then when I tried to turn it off in the front nothing happens. I can only power it down by turning off the atx switch in the back. WTF is up with that?
Here is EVERYTHING I have done to it so far. Put FCPGA chip in iwill slocket, put slocket in slot, connected cpu fan to connector on mobo, connected atx power connector in mobo, connected all case fans, installed ram, installed vid card, and did the led things. With all this connected shouldn't the speaker make a sound when I boot to say if it is successful and shouldn't there be a message saying that no boot device was found or is there something else I need to connect to get that?
Thanks

Make sure your cpu is seated. I have had to shave a little off of the bottom of an Iwill II Slocket to ensure a total insertion.

You gotta be kidding me. You had to cut the slocket? I really don't want to get into that ;) How would I be able to test if the cpu is inserted correctly. When I slide it in it feels like it is going in all the way, but I guess it could be the slocket that is stopping it from moving all the way. Has anyone else had this problem?

Actually afriend of mine had the same problem with another Iwill! To make sure you are well seated you need to take the case off of the card. It is basically a clamshell that seals at the bottom. Open it up, take out card, set card in slot and seat well. Try it. If this solves your problem take about 1/8 inch off of bottom of shell. Dremel tool works great. Good Luck.
