Has anyone measured a game ball before and after a game in those conditions? I mean, I have no idea, honestly. Could the conditions and general game play have effected the ball inflation?

With that said, Aaron Rodgers claims to want higher inflated ball. He claims it helps those with big hands grip it better.

Unknown. No information has been given if the Officials even inspected them before the game but all the balls supposedly deflated were removed at half-time and they used the 12 back-up balls in the 2nd half when they outscored Indy 28-0.

Part of the investigation that still needs further vetting is how the 11 footballs became under-inflated. The game balls provided to each team for preparation were required to be inspected and approved by referee Walt Anderson two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff before they were returned to each team.

It would never happen, for many reasons, but could you imagine the tears if they DQed the Patriots and sent the Colts to the Super Bowl, and the Colts won?

You can put the crack pipe down now, the Clots were manhandled in every conceivable way, they could have given the colts 5 downs every possession and they still would have been smoked.

The proof is to weigh the 12 balls Indy provided to see if they showed similar decrease in air pressure. Exact same weather conditions. If they are properly inflated, NE's balls did not lose significant pressure during the game.

Either the refs are in big trouble for not doing their job to ensure the integrity of the game, or the NE staff is in big trouble for tampering with the footballs after they've been weighed.

See, even the very idea of it causes a Pats fan to start crying!

Nah, he's right. The Colts just didn't show up for that game.

I doubt anyone (fans or NFL officials) would stand for giving the win to Indy...but I'd support forcing a replay of the game. (and I said so in the other thread on the subject)

Of course, NOTHING is going to happen other than MAYBE taking away some of NE's draft picks. (but I'll bet the refs pay a bit more attention to ball handling from now on) damn...that sounds dirty! :p

First of all, no one is going to give the Colts the win and the game won't be replayed. There is NO chance of either happening. Deflated footballs did not cause the Colts to lose -- them not showing up and being completely outcoached cost them the game.

However, if the allegation proves true (and it is looking more and more like it might be), it is yet another sign that Belichick can't play by the rules and needs to be carefully monitored. If they want to punish the Patriots, make them hire Pagano, Manusky, and Grigson. :D

Of course, maybe the NFL was behind it....

Did they check Indy's balls for deflation?

(pun intended)

I read they checked Indy's balls and they were within the acceptable PSI, however, I don't know what they were at prior to the end of the game. If they were at 14.5 and dropped to 12.5, no questions would be raised.

they game was somewhat close at 1/2 time. if they did indeed change out all the balls then its a non issue for the 2nd half where indy got shat on

however it still concerning if someone tampered with the balls or if the refs even looked at them like they were supposed to at the start of the game

temp changes can cause the pressure to change but I don't think it was cold enough during the game for a 2 lb shift (one could actually directly calculate this knowing the volume of the football and the pressure its supposed to be at) im lazy and not gonna do it

I am 99.8% sure that it wouldn't change the outcome of the game. However, if they were caught cheating, they should be disqualified. It shouldn't matter that they would have won regardless, IMO. It just encourages teams otherwise.
