At some point Saturday night my mum suffered a heart attack. Apparently, she woke up in the middle of the night, as she often does, and had a heart attack. She didn't tell my dad until Sunday morning. (I'm not sure why yet, either she didn't realize what had happened, or she was acting irrationally.) He immediately took her to the ER.

My dad had been trying to get ahold of me all day, but was unsuccessful. I was awakened at 12:30 AM last night with the bad news.

She's still in Cardiac Care, but is in stable condition. The specialist has said she suffered a mild heart attack, and she's going to be kept in hospital for a few days for observation. At some point this week she'll be moved to a private room, either in Windsor, where she is now, or to Kitchener, which is closer to home. She might need to have surgery at the end of the week, but that hasn't been determined. According to the specialist, the extensive dental work she had been undergoing may have contributed to her condition. She has recently had $3000 worth of work done on her teeth (we're English).

Details at this point are sketchy as I've only spoken to my dad and I was a bit groggy/stunned when he called.

Apparently, she's going to be OK. I'm still kind of shocked, but I always knew this day would come. My mum's side of the family have a long history of heart problems.

I need the ATOT effect tonight, guys, please pray for my mum.

Thanks.

UPDATE:

It's been nearly a week, and my mum seems to be doing well. I visited her this afternoon with my brother and girlfriend. She was overjoyed to see us and in the hour we spent together she seemed jovial and we even managed to have a few laughs.

She's been moved from Windsor to Guelph where she underwent an angiogram to determine if further surgery is necessary. Unfortunately, it is. She will probably undergo an angioplasty on Monday. However, she has been moved from Critical Care to Step Down, but she's still hooked up to a monitor. They've been running lots of tests.

Her room is nice; she has a nice view from her bedside window and her own TV. Still, she's fed up of being in the hospital and really wants to go home and clean up. It might be another week before she's released.

Thanks again for all the support.

Cheers.

Best wishes to your mom for a speedy recovery and quick return to a full and active life. My mom's in rough shape, right now, so I know how scary it is.

I would think the stress involved with having something like that done. Not sure though, just what I would assume.

Thanks for all the responses, guys.

It's a known fact that root canals pose a risk of heart attack. 100% of all root canals result in residual infection due to the imperfect seal that allows bacteria to penetrate. The toxins given off by these bacteria are more toxic than mercury. These toxins can cause systemic diseases of the heart, kidney, uterus, and nervous and endocrine systems.

I'm glad the specialist was able to realize this. It gives me faith in our health care system.

Wow, I did not know that. Definitely a good thing the doctor knew that.

Good luck to your mom. I've had my share of heart scares, no heart attack though, and it is a truly frightening experience. Luckily it sounds like she is getting good care and will be fine.

Best wishes man......

Good luck to your mom.
On a side note, why don't you clean the house before she gets there? ;)
Wait - it just occurred to me that maybe she'd want to clean herself up.
Either way, good luck to her and your fam.
