What ended up happening?

They did a great job on the bodywork, but they found no other damage to the car. The muffler is tight and not loose at all, but something is jumping up and down at the rear wheel.

The front wheel "thuds" have turned into a loud metallic crash, and even the wheel skids just a little when I hit bigger bumps. If I hit a small pothole or similar, the car sounds like I got in an accident.

I can't believe Honda feels that there is nothing wrong with the car. Their mechanics must be deaf, or they simply don't want to deal with it.

I can't afford to take more time off of work, so I am no longer driving the car and taking the bus.

So much for customer service...

i like how everyone storms into a YACT to try to help.

it sounds likes the struts - take it to a suspension specialist. Normally i would go straight to the springs/shocks, but you only have 6003 miles, so I highly doubt it.

To be specific, it sounds a lot like a bent A-arm. If you don't check carefully, you cannot really notice that the arm is actually bent. I'm not sure about how you got into the accident, but when you impact on a turn (or someone impacts you on a turn), the A-arm is always the victim.

From what you described it sounds like you have a broken Honda. This is impossible since apparently Hondas are impervious to breaking and last forever even if you never change the oil. Stop with your lies already.

06 Civic has a trailing arm rear suspension. It does not have a strut in the rear. The coil spring and the shock are mounted seperately on the trailing arm.

Was the exhaust hit when you were rear-ended? A hard enough impact can put pressure on the engine/tranny from the exhaust and can break an engine mount. However, I would guess that your exhaust is a little bent and it is hitting something else under your car. When the car is cool, grab that tail pipe and shake that exhaust. Does it hit anything? If it does, you can try to bend it to correct it, but if you don't know anything about cars, you're better off just taking it to your local muffler shop to have them bend it back properly.

It wouldn't hurt to check out the suspension too. Make sure that the bushings for your trailing arms and shocks are good.

LOL, I remember telling people that all the time. My reason for buying a Civic was because "Honda's don't break." :)

The muffler was hit REALLY hard during the accident. It probably took the brunt of the force, but the muffler is tight. I did break the motor mount on my old Galant, and the sound is EXACTLY the same as the Galant was. That is why I keep thinking the motor mount is broken.

I am going to take it to my father's mechanic later this week. Thanks for the info, it really helps a lot.

TTT, got my car back. It was the mounts all along, and Honda was aware of the problem affecting Civics since June this year. Why the first dealer didn't let me know about this is a mystery to me...

Was this a big deal to fix...or is it some normal wear & tear item???

I'd call up the service manager and let them know how badly they dropped the ball.

I don't think motor mounts are hard to replace....

Definetely not wear and tear especially if it's brand new. Or you have a manual transmission and really REALLY don't know how to use the clutch.

They were defective.
