Then don't.

The Outpost board supports Durons up to 950 (core change at 1 gig, IIRC) and Athlons up to 1.4 gig.

200mhz FSB Athlons tend to eat 100mhz FSB Celerons alive.

This is a great deal. Thanks for posting.

Actually the first message bare bones does include a floppy, 56k modem, 10/100 ethernet, UDMA/100 HDD controller, sound & video. Although it doesn't say what is built-in and what are separate cards? Just a little more info, not trying to bend anyones mind here.

First off, your deal doesn't even include a comparable processor. Secondly, your price is almost exactly the same. Finally, none of the other items included with the barebones system are factored into your price.

You present a worse deal for the same price. Why DID you feel the need to thread crap?

Thanks for the post solo... but I'm still curious about that mobo and # of pci slots

"Built in 2D/3D Video2 PCI; 1 ISA; 1 AMR Slots "

Does that mean 2 PCI slots and if so, is that with or without the included '10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet Card' ?

If you look at the bottom of the page it says it's an ECS Barebone system with the KLE133 Chipset. So the board would be the K7ZVM

Spec on the K7ZVM

I used this board in a system I built a week ago. Not bad for what it is.

Looks to me like the messed up on the Description it has an AGP slot not ISA. Easy mistake for a someone who doesn't have one in front of them.

Remember ebates for about another 4 bucks off...

Hmmm...I see no mention of a power supply. Isn't that usually included in a barebones rig?

Embarrassing system-building-newbie question here: what's an AMR slot?

AMR:
Audio Modem Riser

ACR:
Audio Communications Riser

CNR:
Communications Network Riser

These cards generally use processing power from your cpu to do what normal audio/modem/network cards would do.

why am i reading this thread. there seems to be no new information. for pete's sake reference the original thread
so we don't have to hear all the same questions and answers again.

TextI picked up this machine when it was selling for $149.00 a couple of weeks ago. It's a sweet little machine but not very upgradeable. It doesn't have an AGP slot so you have to deal with the graphics that's onboard unless of course you have a PCI graphic's excellerator card. Still for the price it's a sweet little machine. Using parts that I had lying around the house, IE 15g IBM hd, 8x Sony CDWR, 96m of ram and an old floppy drive I had the machine up and running in less than an hour.

Seems to be disagreement here as to whether or not this thing has an AGP slot:

From the ECS spec sheet on the K7ZVM spec sheet:

<< 2 PCI slots, 1 AGP slot, 1 AMR slot >>

Well, does it or doesn't it? No AGP slot would be a real deal-breaker for me...

Be aware that this might have an OEM ESC Motherboard that is meant for the OEM channel only and therefore might not have an AGP Slot and might infact have an ISA slot.

Just because they only show one motherboard on their website with a "similar description", don't start reading into the specs and making up your own conclusions. I have seen this type of thing before where they try and dump discontinued OEM product.

Your best bet if you are interested is to call customer sales/support to find out. Not having an AGP Slot would certainly spoil a possible great deal.

The KLE133 chipset does not support an external AGP slot. The original item description is very likely correct. I'll know for sure tomorrow, as I have one on order.
