I have three Crucial PC2100 256 MB sticks currently. I can set the memory timings to their most aggressive settings on my EPoX 8K3A+, but I can't run them to run reliably at 2700 speeds no matter what the timings are, nor can I overclock my FSB more than say 143 MHz before it doesn't want to go any further (I can set the memory to operate at 166 independently of the 133 FSB on this board).

So here's my question, am I better sticking with the three Crucial sticks which can run aggressive 2100 speeds but nothing else, or getting a 512 MB stick of this Kingston? Would going from 768 MB to 512 MB be offset by speed increases to make it worthwhile (and can this Kingston memory be run at CAS 2)? Would slapping one of these Kingston sticks in place of one of the current Crucial sticks allow me to get 1 GB of memory and still keep my aggressive (CAS 2, etc.) 2100 settings (ie. can 2700 run the most aggressive 2100 speeds)?

SVC has Samsung 512MB PC2700 for $63.80.
512MB

I am thinking of picking this up. Comes with 3 years warranty as well.

Running with more than one stick of memory in your mobo always decrease the stability of all sticks. SO... getting one stick of 512mb instead of 3 sticks of 256mb would most definetly let you overclock that one stick much more.

Those are samsung on generic. Do a search, you would be advised to not buy those.

I had a stick of that same ram except it was 256meg and my friend bought that same exact 512 meg stick both on the same generic IC chipset. They are both completely stable at 333mhz and the strongest settings(cas2,1t,4bank,ect,ect.) that you can throw at it. This is talking from experience. Not one single problem. They both had the CTL TCB3 Samsung Chips. Of course YMMV. But both 256 and 512 meg sticks ran just perfect at 333mhz and the strongest timings.
