Here at work there is an industrial sized change machine in our vending machine area which is used very frequently. I just went in there, tossed my $5 into it to get change and then realized that the door was actually ajar. Being curious, I turned the handle a couple of times, and lo and behold, it popped open!

Not only was there several hundred dollars in change in there, but the float from the lunch counter apparently is stored in there as well, which on a good day also runs into the hundreds. Although there is always a part of me that thinks ... what if ... I always do the right thing when it comes to stuff like this.

Update 12 April 2006:

They offered me free lunches for a month for closing the machine! Sweet. :)

I ended up pushing closed the lock, and it seems to have clicked into place. I have tried contacting the company that has the contract for the lunch room, but no one has called me back yet.

Dude, you totally blew it.
You could right now be very slowly dragging those hundreds of dollars worth of coins to your car.

LMAO ... nice. It wouldn't have taken much, much of the money was in bills that had been changed, and the coins in there were in some plastic tubes that could easily have fit into my backpack if I had so desired.

Edit: Plus I'm in Canada and we have $1 and $2 coins, so it doesn't take much to equal a lot of money.

Why didn't you clean out the dollar bills?
Honesty like that will get you nowhere.

Recently the coke vendor guy left the coke machine open in our building. I cleaned that baby out daily.

Agreed. You should always look for an opprotunity to fck over someone else. Then it's their problem.

Maybe once you realize that the proper word would have been "you're", I'd accept your criticism :p
