Ahh, anyone else read some of the fine print?
# The dock is no longer included with any model of iPod.
# The FireWire cable is no longer included with any model of iPod except for the existing 4G 20Gb.
# The AC adapter is no longer included with the iPod mini.
# The A/V cable is no longer included with the iPod photo.

Jerks.

The firewire cable I can kind of understand. USB is just a lot more common/popular.
But no AC Adapter with the Ipod mini? WTF? So they FORCE you to charge through USB or make you pay $30 for a charger? Fsck that!

wtf? no AC adaptor? that's stupid.

You guys do realize you can charge it through the USB cable.....that's what I do with my iPod right now.

Mine came with a firewire cable, i dont know what kind of deal you have. I also usually just leave it plugged in over night to my computer and let it charge over the USB, so losing the charger isnt THAT big of a deal. Still kinda stupid...

That iPod Photo is looking attractive. With the educational discount I could get the 30GB version for $319+tax

USB charger is a convenience. It's not a replacement for an AC adapter. It's great if you are just taking the thing out and about for the day and come back home at night. But, if you do any sort of traveling or extended trips having to tether it to a PC/Laptop is a MAJOR hastle.

AC adapter >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>&gt
>>> charging via USB

No AC Adapter? WTF? Using USB/FireWire to charge the iPod will keep the HD running = shorter life = sell more iPod. That's just evil.

And when the hell are they gonna put in optical out and line out? Never?

I have a 3g, going to wait for the 5gen to upgrade.

Nope, the old Mini definately came with the firewire cable. You needed it to use the included AC adapter, which only had a firewire connection on it.

Besides, now that you can finally charge the iPod though USB 2, neither the firewire cable or the AC adapter are necessary anymore.

The firewire I'd agree with. The power adapter is still infinitely more usefull than charging over USB for anyone that travels often though.

agreed. a bit of a shame. I can actually use my mini for data too going between home/work since I have a firewire and usb cable. but not a big loss.

the ac adapter... i never used, but as you said.. travelers get screwed on this deal. the drop of the dock really sucks for the higher end models.

I'm impressed. And there still isn't a better UI out there IMHO.

Obviously its better but still not quite up to par for the $. Just shows you how greedy apple is.

What wonderful business sense you have.

The weird thing is that they didn't lower the price on the iPod U2 Special Edition at all! Who in their right mind would buy a B&W 20 GB U2 iPod for $349 when they can get a 30 GB Color iPod Photo for the same price?

Yes, they are standard issue headphones. Also, if you're thinking about getting one, don't forget to check if your employer offers a corporate discount.

Oh yeah... Rh71, your employer DOES offer a corporate discount :)
