Hope these numbers help you chose a cooler
cpu @1550 1.9volts
System temp at idle 22c
Glaciator cpu at Idle 35c under load 41c
Alpha Pal 6035 iele 40c under load 50c

cpu @1550 2.0volts
system temp at idle 23c
Glaciator cpu at idle 40c under load 45c
Alpha Pal 6035 at idle 49c under load 56c

Here are some temps during the hot part of the day

CPU @ 1.9volts
System temp 28c
Glaciator at idle 44c under load 49c

Cpu @ 2.0volts
Glaciator at Idle 48c under load 52c

This test was done running SETI and Quake 3 demo looped at the same time.
The clip on the Glaciator is very easy to use and seems very strong.
I would tell anyone who OCs to get one of these coolers they are real HEAVY your going to laugh but I tied a string around it in case it breaks the little plastic thingy it wont fall onto my Ge-force 3 also I think its putting out less noise then the YStech fan on the Alpha

congrats.. those lower temps are great, even let you push a little more out of her..

plus, cooler temps, lead to more stability,(well if you are having thoe kinda of prob's)

hey;) i would protect my 350 investment also!;)

Hi Renob,

Kudos to you; you followed-up and posted your findings! Thanks! That's a hefty temperature drop...well worth the investment. The "string thing" is pretty funny. But I guess it wouldn't be very funny if the clip broke and that monster snapped you GF3 off at the AGP slot, now would it? :( Is the clip that flimsy? Maybe you should look into using a piece of safety wire (all metal, no coating) instead of string. I don't thing the cooler would get hot enough to ignite the string...but you never know. Thanks for sharing and good luck.

The clip is very easy to use and seems very strong. The string is nylon very strong and the cooler does not get hot. The fan in there is awsome
BJC im running my G3 at 210x490 it will run at 225x525

would't this be a nightmare..

you tie the string up thinking "hey, it will never break, that outta hold it"

then one moring you wake up, smell smoke, check inside.. the string is on fire, snaps.. the fan falls of, blasts into the the 3 snaps it outta of the AGP slot..

that would be a nightmare.. ;)

hopefully this doesn't happen!!

<< I will run some more temp during the hot part of the day. >>

Renob, thanks for sharing this wih us....may i know what is the RPM and CFM of that YStech fan on the Alpha? Over here in Singapore, they use Sanyo Denki fan so I am not quite sure about that YS tech fan..

Thanks

i'm running a duron 800....
during the day i'm @ 35 idle, 43 load
night i'm 27 idle 36 load
just for reference, not that it matters much, i'm at 1.67v and my sys temp varies from 27-30

how much difference can i expect using the glaciator? right now i'm using a stock hsf...

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
also, my bro's got a tbird 1.2
during the day he's 40 idle, 47 load
not sure at night
his sys temp is the same as mine and i dunno about voltage

would he benefit from this? how much?
