Updated firmware now I have half the speed

I have Netgear MR814v2 and I just updated the firmware from factory setting to version 5.3. A speed test before firmware update was 3mb down, now its only 1.5 after 15 different tests, what can I do?
 
Go back to the earlier version of firmware and test again. If your back to 3mb, stay away from the new and improved firmware.
 
PS: I upgraded a Netgear WGR614 a couple of months ago, and I couldn't connect at all, I have to go back to the older version in order to work.
