Updated distributed.net beta client v2.8011.464d

Is it the same version released couple of days ago?

Never mind. Just noticed the "d" at the end.

BTW - Whats the difference between them? The last one dropped my keyrates a bit.

I have just downloaded and ran 464d and found it to be at least 16% slower than 463b on a K7 and using OGR. 🙁

I do not know what changes were made. Currently I am unable to get at the source. Cyrus just told me to post his binary.

Is that any improvement over the 464b&c?

I think we are looking for speed improvements with this release. Lets be sure to give it a try on the various CPUs and give Cyrus some good feedback, be it good or bad.

Sorry Viz all my boxes here at the house are K7's.

I did not keep any performance records from the previous beta releases.

Seems the mark to pass would certainly be the latest released version.

I would be interested in knowing what series of tests Cyrus runs before releasing a new beta.

It would also be helpful to know what changes were made in the latest beta. Perhaps only networking changes were made in 464d.

It looks like the only change here is the different progress indicator, done in nodes instead of % of completion, which as we know is not very accurate.
OGR Benchmarks on my Celeron and a K6 233 are about the same as the other 464 betas. Slightly slower on the Celeron by ~3% and ~33% slower on the K6 compared to the 463b client in Windows.

OK then I will stay away. The 464c client was about 5-6% slower in benches than 463b (on a Celeron II).
