This is an updated model 5.6" LCD screen with remote at Mp3playerstore.com. Their old model is now selling for 89 dollars, while this new one is going for 129. It has dual video inputs, which I think is pretty nifty. I may get one and mount it to my desk and hook up my PS2 to it.

Flat fee shipping of 4.95. They are based out of new york.

I was actually looking at the 16:9 aspect Redant 7" at lik-sang, but at 200 bucks that's a bit out of my spending range.

Thanks, I just ordered one (just to mess around with). But you sure it's from New York?

"All Price are in U.S dollars
you will be charge by:
MP3 PLAYER STORE INC,CANADA
Dept.INTERNET 5934 Côte de Liesse Rd.
Town of Mount-Royal (Qc) H4T 2A5
view the constant fluctuation of the exchange rates
US DOLLAR V.S CANADIAN DOLLAR
you could have a 1% difference on your bill."

And also, the older model doesn't work with bright sunlight (so it says), so maybe it's worth the extra 40 bucks to get this one.

I'll take a wild guess and say no cause a CDROM is 5.25 (right?) and the diagonal is 5.6", but there's that border. I mean you can MAKE it fit...will probably still look cool, but I don't think it's gonna make a perfect fit.

Actually...5.6" means the edges are around 4", so maybe it can. You can wait till I get one and ask me then...=)

Very tempting...

I guess if you have a video card with TV out then you can hook this baby up.

Be aware that the specs on this do not guarantee high quality. I bought two similarly spec'd screens via Ubid (Visonik brand, which I am told is a reputable company) earlier this year. The picture was washed out compared to the Interact-labeled 5" screen I had bought for a Gamecube. The Interact screen is actually pretty convenient in that it has two headphone plugs and built-in speakers that can be turned off.

When I look at the lcd screens at the local Good Guys installation, I see a wide variance in quality--some acceptable, some not.

I would be interested in hearing some user's experience about these screens.

How much is the GameCube (and PS1) screens and can they take other video inputs? I heard there were some 3rd party ones for the gaming systems for $100+ that were decent...maybe those would've been better choices? If anyone is still interested afterwards I'll be more than happy to post my opinions on this screen.

Hawk--I am interested in your opinion. Shopping for a van for the fam and a few of these could mean some very peaceful trips (3 kids under the age 6).
Thanks

Bad news for potential home users...there's no ac adaptor, so you would have to find a compatible one somewhere, they don't even sell it.

I was tempted to get one to try in my suburban with a portable DVD player until I read the following:

<< Because this Monitor Use Back Light Cold Cathode Filament Tube Technology, which is basically like a neon in the back of the screen. It is not suggested to use with day light. But in the dark it is a very cool monitor! >>

Sounds like it might not work for daytime traveling :(

Actually CFL backlighting is the norm on color LCDs.
It will appear faint and washed out during the day in bright sunlight, but that's not because it's CFL backlit. That's because it's a transmissive LCD which means it is invisible unless there's a light shining through behind it. Daytime visibility depends on the brightness of the backlight.
A reflective LCD is one which does not require a backlight to be visible during the day, like an IPAQ color LCD for example. The reflective LCD's are what you can see clearly during the day. Many B&W LCDs are reflective. Very few color LCDs are reflective, except several PDA's have reflective LCDs, but I've never seen one on a TV screen for the car.

Again, there is NO AC adaptor on this LCD screen. I noticed that myself upon first inspection, but I was going to ask my dad to whip up some power inverter for me.

I noticed in the description it says PAL/NTSC autp switchable. Does that mean the screen has a built in tuner?

I think the "can't see in direct sunlight" only applies to the 89.99 version. Maybe the 129.99 has some other thing to counter it?

And as for the PAL/NTSC issue, I think it's capable of detecting however many lines per screen your input is and not that it can tune into channels.

I want to know can I use this as a second display monitor for my Radeon 8500. Since the Radeon 8500 supports dual monitor, it would be nice to had this small 5" screen as the second monitor. So I can know someone message me while I am playing games, or watch dvd while I am working. I wonder is the $89 one good enough for this purpose, the $128 one is ok too.....

Hey Fellas, I actually bought one of these a while ago along with a portable dvd player (from elsewhere) to mount in my new Volvo. I have to say I was disappointed at best. This guy IS a TFT, so I dont believe it uses a cold cathode tube, but the picture during the daytime is less than enjoyable. This IS in a car mind you, but even indoors the picture left a lot to be desired in terms of brightness and saturation. This IS of course just my opinion, but I feel obligated to pass it along. Good luck to those of you who have ordered it. :)
