Cut a long story short:

- Bus behind me on a narrow road, me doing 20+ mph.
- Cars are parked on the left and right of said narrow road, obviusly narrowing it further
- Bus cannot pass, but will stop in 30 seconds anyway at the next stop
- Comes to within 5ft of my rear wheel, I gesture that he should back off (not with THAT signal)
- Driver give ME the finger and drives up to within 1-2 feet. Both of us are still going 15 Mph
- I shout 'BACK OFF!'
- He shouts 'Get the FVCK out of the way'. There is no where to go, however.
- He pulls into stop, he pulls open his driver window and I yell 'I have right of way!' (in the UK I do, so suck it.)
- He yells 'Fcuk you, get on the pavement'
- I pull over to the curb and he moves off from the stop and pulls up real close to me, opens the passenger door and starts ranting about how I'm a c*** and should have got on the pavement long before.
- I inform him that the Highway Code(the road law) state I get a £1000 fine for riding on the road and that he should read it.
- Him, 'I have read it'
- Me, 'No you fcuking haven't otherwise you's know what the law is. READ IT TWICE'
- I tell him I'm going to report to his company, he laughs 'Good fcking luck, you C***!'
- I take his plate and call him a follically challenged female genital "BALD C***!"
- He calls me a 'Long haired fvcking Yeti'

So I ride home, this was on the last 1/2 mile of my 2 hour ride. I get to my door and think, no, screw it, I'm making a police report on this fvck, so I do.

The copper is a cyclist, so he's sympathetic and it's all logged. I then try to find the bus company online. The company name was hard to fine, with all the logo's and adverts on the bus, but not only did I find the Bus company, I found the Depot number...

I called the depot, made a direct complaint of Dangerous Driving, left the plate number and the description. I also mentioned that the Police would be in touch soon and gave them the Crime number that it will be in connection with.

Try to run me down, and I WILL own you. :|

UPDATE:

Police just called. They're getting CCTV from the Town Cams and from the Cab cams if the Bus Co. hasn't wiped them already...

I can feel the ownage building...

UPDATE 2: Still waiting... Might call the Depot again to gee them up a bit.

:beer::):beer: nice!

And a big fvck you in advance to anyone that comes in here bitching about cyclists. I've been nearly run over too many times to care anymore if I'm holding up some prick in a car.

Sounds like you need some well defined bike lanes on major thoroughfares like we have in Portland. I'd sue the company for stalking and/or harrassment also, if I were you.

If you were really a cyclist you'd know that in many places its illegal to ride on the sidewalk, and often more dangerous.

Why do bikers think they're vehicles? I don't know if they're brave or just stupid.

Shoulda pulled over and let him by. I understand your predicament with the fine, but get the hell out of the way.

In the mortal battle between Bus and Bicycle. Bet on the Bus.

You never know how crazy people can get these days, what if he just decided to floor the accelerator...

When is the last time anyone has been pulled over and fined for riding on the sidewalk?

People around here are crazy. There is no way I would ride a bike on the same road as them.

In Oregon bikes are vehicles, and have to obey all the same traffic laws. I could no more ride on the sidewalk than I could drive my Camry on the sidewalk.

I agree. There's a busy road by my work that is about 5 miles long that is a connector to two other major streets. It is constantly backed up because cyclists think they can take up a lane during rush hour after work. I'm sorry, but find somewhere else to ride your bike.

If it was a single car or two, I'd feel bad but a bus? Just get off to the side temporarily so it can stay on schedule plus you're inconveniencing everyone on that bus.

As a cyclist, I think that the sidewalk is a much safer place for bikes, BUT I acknowledge that stupid laws often make it illegal, so other drivers should try to understand...

It's pretty impressive that you were able to determine the exact weight of the bus just from looking at it, though :p

Yes he did. The words 'try' and 'did' need explaining to you?

I believe his point was that if a bus REALLY wanted to run you over, it could have, very, very easily. What the bus driver tried to do was scare you off the road.

I understand, and don't mind them sharing the roads. But would you take up an entire lane of rush hour traffic in your Camry, letting the car idle along at 10mph though? That's what it's the equivalent to. They need to have a little common sense and let people by and stay out of the way. I don't mind them driving on the road, but getting in the way and holding up traffic for the sake of exercise or the environment(or whatever other reasons they have for using bikes as transportation) isn't very considerate. If someone is faster than me, I always get out of the way, and if I was on a bike it'd be even easier to dart onto a side street or pull over onto the sidewalk until the train behind you is cleared.

Good job...

I have gotten run off the road countless times during traffic hours. I keep as close to the curb as possible and they still try to run me off. They can't usually because I am so close to the curb they would probably hit the curb if they tries, but it is dang annoying.

I have been - and warned another time.

Bikes are considered vehicles on surface streets, subject to the same rights and responsibilities as any other. That's the law, but it doesn't stop somebody from running you down so using some caution and common sense when exercising your rights is always advised.

But as I said, riding on the sidewalk is very dangerous - your moving alot faster then pedestrians, and cars aren't looking for you in the crosswalks. You're better off taking your place in the lane.

People around here are crazy. There is no way I would ride a bike on the same road as them.

Are you crazy? Bikers get fined on the sidewalk. Where do you live BTW?

Its the same argument as I'm driving the speed limit in the passing line. You can be a dick about it... or you can move over and let everyone else drive how they want to even if its 500% over the limit.
Cyclist or not, just share the space. I'm sure no cop is going to right you a $1000 ticket for moving onto the sidewalk in a safe manner to let a crazy bus driver through. And if you live in a country where someone would right you the $1000 ticket, you probaly wouldn't be allowed to post here anyways...
