That shows the Z06 performs better mechanically when just comparing car vs car and only doing one task at a time, but the Z06 would need a much better driver to keep up with and beat the GT-R's computers in utilizing that mechanical superiority in practice. eg: Z06 driver can beat a GT-R in the 'ring and then admit while the GT-R isn't as fast, is much easier to drive.

Oh I agree. The Corvette Z06 is a better car that requires a good driver to take advantage of what it has. The GT-R is great for wanna be posers that can’t drive a real car but think they can do anything they see pro race drivers do. ;)

Thank you.

GT-R on average pulls around a 1.8 60ft. How many Cobra's and vette's do you know that can pull that on street tires?

Apparently a stock STi can rock a 1.8s 60' time all day... good drivers can get it even faster.

GT-R is still growing on me, but I still prefer:

Nissan_Skyline_R34_GT-R_N&

So much more sinister and RB26 >>>>> VR38.

That and if you are looking for a GT-R to have something less common, this would be the one to get in the states.

If/when I ever have the money for 5+ $30k+ cars, this will be one of them.

Yeah I get ya man. If I had the money, I'd be all over a GTR right now. I respect the corvette's abilities and fantastic price/performance, but I just like the GTR a lot more. The corvette I would buy is a Z06 with the full Z07 package, which comes out to like $90k anyways.

Just got off the phone with the dealer and i'm very excited now. They're getting a pair of 2012 GT-R's in about 2-3 weeks. A white and a deep blue pearl. I'll have to pay around sticker for a 2012 but i think it's worth the money. Have to stop back in tomorrow to go over somethings and for a test drive so i'll keep everyone posted.

I drive a Corvette, and paid cash for it. As I did my CTS and my old beater Mazda Ranger.

I'm not some 24year old kid that reads car mags and thinks he knows he is talking about. :awe:

Same, if I ever had the money to import that, I'd get it in a heart-beat. So damn sexy and looks so damn mean.

Actually the wife is the Vette owner, got it when we were dating. She asked for a fun, fast, 2door sports car that was reliable. Only 1 really fit that, Corvette. I consider the Mustang, Camaro, etc... sports coupes.

I use to be a tech and my first specialty was port fuel injection. Still a lot of cars on the road still had Carb and most senior tech knew carbs, not F/I. After that it was water cooled Porsches, don't ask. :awe:

Have a few friends with C6's and they're a pretty amazing car. One has an APS twin turbo kit and the car really flies. There's just one damn thing that annoy's me with it. Whenever we goto cruise nights and i ride as a passenger there's this really annoying squeak that he cannot seem to find. It seems to drive me crazy. Sounds like coming from the front right dash.

Anyone here goto Atco in new jersey? Maybe we should get alittle get together in the spring.

You should stick with the black one! :) But I'm a bit biased and prefer black vehicles (except station wagons... that's just weird).

Mm the R34 :D. It's too bad they never brought the car over here and the only group that ever did fudged their safety reports and were subsequently shut down :\.

For me the entire interior annoys me. It looks like it was pulled out of a Buick parts bin and cobbled into the Vette interior. And those seats, ugh...they just look like pleather covered patio furniture. Yeah, world class performance but with backyard BBQ styling.

I will tell you right now. It was the best decision i've ever made. i have a white 09 GTR and it is fun as hell to drive.
No mods yet though. trying to keep her clean.

and all the vette fans can shove it because
1. every 40yr old getting no tail goes out to buy a vette during their mid-life crisis.
2. you see vettes everywhere
3. the vette is not a 'Super luxury Sports' car.

Dont get me wrong i love vette, they are sexy ass cars, but like mustangs (which are nice too) everyone with a decent amount of money has one.

but look at it this way.

It takes a lighter, RWD, supercharged V8, manual, $100k+, 600+ HP car to beat a..

much heavier, V6, auto, AWD, ~$86k, 480hp car

at the end of the day and you think about all the added features you get with the GTR and everything that it took just for the ZR1 to beat the GTR ( only in the performance area). The GTR is the real winner. The GTR also rides smoother and has superior interior.

Another thing people talk about is maintenance cost and/or insurance.... If you're worried about costs for small stuff like tires and other maintenance and insurance. Then you're too poor to afford cars like these.

The sweet and sour smell of bullshit is wafting strongly through this thread.

I'm gonna have to call "pics or it didn't happen".

Of course, its the internet, so any relative or obscure source for a pic who may own one can = owning one.

I totally agree jules. They could atleast design some better seats for the Z06 and ZR1

I wonder why the 2012 model still has a CD player? Even the Altima was upgraded to the hard drive audio system for its technology package (which had to happen after I got one).

I know 2 GTR's owners and they both dont use it very often which is just sad. If i had the money to buy it, it will be a daily driven

I'd be willing to adopt one if they are free to good home. :D

Seriously though, why? Do they have so many good cars that they can choose a better one? Do they need a "softer" daily driver?

I have an uncle like that. He has a Porsche 911 and a BMW M3, but he bought a Mercedes something or other (I think C350?) for a daily driver.

Somtimes AT Garage pisses me off: Thread starts with, " I wanna sports car". Replies: "Fuck that! Get a minivan and turbo charge it!"...

I knew someone that did that. Fastest mini van I've ever ridden in, but it was still not all that fast and it handled like crap.

Didn't help that he was an asshole driver. :p Music loud as hell, and thought that driving erratically was being "fast." My first and last time riding with him.

One complaint I've heard about the GTR is you feel disconnected from the vehicle. Like you aren't actually driving it but simply piloting it and the car figures out the rest.

Perfect for the well heeled Nintendo generation.

oh what you've never heard of someone owning a vehicle before?

i have no reason what so ever to start taking pictures of my hard earned belongings just to appease some child with an apparent inferiority complex. Which wouldn't even make you happy to begin with.

While our economy is just now coming out of the crapper, there are a wide variety jobs that warrant the kind of salary to own such a car. i e government contracting.
