NOTE: I don't want to hear "You should have thought of that before you moved in" or "You deserve to lose the cat" comments. If you hate cats or don't have anything useful to say, keep it to yourself.

Well, I just got off the phone with my wife and looks like we're going to have to find a new home for one of our cats. Our fvcking apartment complex won't allow us to have more than 2 cats in the apartment and unfortunately they just found out we have 3 cats. I'm so bummed out right now and pissed at myself for not putting the cats in their room (with food, water and the litter box) before I left this morning so this wouldn't have happened.

The maintenance guy came in to fix our garbage disposal, saw the cats and told the manager. Unfortunately, the manager won't bend the rules even if we put down an extra deposit for the cat, so I'm trying to find a good home for our baby. I don't want to take her to the Humane Society, so I'm trying to find a good home for her with someone I (preferably) know. Called my mom already to see if she would be interested in another cat for her office (the old office cat just died recently) and a buddy from work said his friend might be looking for a new cat.

If anyone's in San Diego and would be interested, shoot me a PM. The cat in question is a 1 year old female tabby named Dimitra, pronounced Dim-mee-truh (Dim for short. Don't worry, she's a very smart little kitty). She has medium length brown/black striped fur, bright gold eyes and is very playful and and friendly. She's a dominant female but gets along well with our dominant male 7 year old and the other female cat who is 4 years old. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures available. :(

I just don't know how I'm going to live without our baby or how the other two cats will take this, but I hope that whatever happens, our little baby will have a good home. ::sigh::

:(

EDIT: Forgot to mention that she's fixed and fully housebroken (uses the litter box with no problems). Also, I would stress that she is an INDOOR cat only. If anyone ends up taking her, please please please keep her inside.

UPDATE: Well, my friend's friend said he can't take the cat now, so it looks like my wife will be asking her mom if she knows anyone.

That is a sh*tty situation. I hope you find a good home for her.

EDIT: Your maintenence man must be on awesome terms. Most maintenence men don't give a crap about people breaking these types of rules in a complex.

Keep the cat, tell the landlord that you got rid of it, then be sure to lock them up when you leave every day. Problem solved.

Oh boo hoo. It's a small white lie that won't hurt anybody. Don't be such an assclown. I never said that dishonesty was always the right policy, but it would be for me if I was in this situation.

I would take your cat but I don't think my 2 cats would enjoy a new rival in their turf. Good luck finding your cat a new home.

what a stupid policy, what is the difference between having three cats vs two?

i know you have to have a limit so some old bag "cat lady" doesn't move in with 700 cats, but it's retarded that the guy won't bend the rules a little

That sucks. We have a cat in our apartment and we never put down the security deposit. Last time the maint. guy came (a couple months ago) he said "Hey kitty" and that was it.

I remember walking to my car back in april or may, and one of the people from the office was showing a family around the place. Thier little girl pointed at one guy's balcony, and said "kitty cats!". And the lady with them said "he's only suppsoed to have two cats.. not three". Three months later he stil lhas three cats on his balcony. No one seems to care.

Yeah...I'm tempted to hide the cat when I leave, but I don't know what their plan is as far as telling us to get rid of the cat. I don't want to get kicked out (we just renewed our lease) and we'd get stuck paying for new carpet among other things since we haven't been here long enough (if we're here for more than 2 years, they pay to replace the carpet when we move out, not us). Technically, they're supposed to give us 24 hours before they enter the place, but that doesn't stop them if they think we're breaking the terms of the lease. ::sigh::

The other two older cats adjusted pretty well, but she was just a kitten when we first got her. It's a lot easier when they're that age. Thanks for your thoughts though. :)

You're right, rules were meant to be broken when it benefits you and that don't hurt anybody.

Fvck, just leave it alone, will you? You've got a valid point but this isn't the thread to debate it in.

Sorry, I mistook this thread for a chance to point out the shortcomings of others on a public forum and to talk trash about someone I don't even know... oh wait that's what you do to me, sorry I got confused.

You were being an elitist jerk-off in Walleye's thread, as I recall. You do have a valid point here, but I don't want to waste this thread on arguing about it. Make a new thread if you like and I'll be glad to waste bandwidth debating it with you.

If you don't want to break any rules but still want to see your cat a lot, offer it to a close friend who lives nearby and just visit frequently.
