I have a 24" LCD that I connect 2 PCs to. The one connected via VGA is a PC with a 9800pro. It used to do 1920x1200 on it just fine. However, after coming back from a LAN, the PC fell on its side and now it won't output any HD resolution correctly anymore over VGA. 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 are both stretched so there's horizontal scrolling even though I have tried the monitor in both 4:3 and 16:10 mode. Funny thing is in 16:10 mode, 1600x1200 fits screen perfectly. I cleaned the ATI drivers and tried installing a couple of different versions but neither of them worked and the newer version of Catalyst doesn't even run (though I think this may be ATI's fault) on the 9800pro. And no resolutions above 1600x1200 showed up in the older version of Catalyst.
So then I tried DVI and it outputs 1920x1200 just fine. Any idea what could've happened?

Ok, so I tried VGA on the other computer and similar things are happening. I tried resetting monitor settings without any improvements. Any ideas what could be causing this? Monitor is the 24" Soyo.

Ati drivers are probably to blame, as you know most of laptops works with widescreen resolutions over VGA connection ... monitor is plug and play and it reports its max resolution.
