Thanks!

Just did this over the phone with Staples.

- 20.00 20 off 100 coupon, should be able to find this via Google.

85.71

No shipping charged. Drive should arrive Friday.

Edit: Note, though they didn't try to charge shipping, if they had I was prepared to point out that Best Buy will do in-store pick-up and that it was available near me, no shipping needed. She said she could not take an order to be picked up at a local Staples.

Edit2: Well, the CSR SAID she entered the coupon but apparently not. I called today and they took it on faith that I had the coupon code when I talked to the CSR and took $20 off but could not go in and take off the tax that would not have been charged if it was done properly in the first place, but it's all good, got a decent sized drive for not much money! : D Also, I checked and it is a 2MB drive, not an 8MB by mistake.

Woohoo!!!

I just got it done also. It took an hour, almost all of which was on hold, lots of back & forth between me, the CSR and the manager. I had to debate every detail, but I finally got the PM. Then another 10 minutes to haggle over the shipping, but after pointing out BB's local store pickup option, they gave me that too.

I ended up buying two of the drives for $94.99 each, plus a 3-pack of DVD-RWs for $19.99 to bring the total just over $200. After a $30 off $200 coupon and then adding sales tax, I paid $196.62.

My RAID card arrives today. Now just hoping these are the 8MB cache drives!

The deal is still alive, if you're willing to be persistent.

*** EDIT ***

Staples just left me a message saying they can only PM one drive...wonder how that will affect my order. Looks like I'll be on hold a while longer.

*** EDIT #2 ***

Well I just got off the phone with the Staples CSR and she told me they simply dropped the second drive off my order, but still applied the $30 off $200 coupon. She says my new total is $92.84! I'm totally confused, but not complaining. Especially since I actually already have the 8MB drive from BestBuy for $99. I was just going to return that one, but I guess I'll keep it now!

I've tried 2 different CSR's and neither would pricematch to BB or CUSA; one wouldn't do it at all and the other insisted on charging me 2nd day shipping charges; so, now I either forget it or try a third time; not sure it's worth it.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I just looked up my order online and it looks good. I'll post again if something goes wrong.

Tried my 3rd CSR; she wouldn't do it either; said the model numbers were different; oh well, can't win em all

sheesh. took 3 more tries, but my final bill is $99.xx after tax. didn't want to spend any more time on the phone, need to enjoy my zucchini fries.

they were able to do the pm to bestbuy.com $149, but they had to tack on their next-day shipping cost of $17. then they did 110% pm, bringing it down to $111.xx plus $8.xx tax, but I did manage to get the $20 off $100 coupon code factored in there, bringing me down to $99.xx after tax, which is good enough for me, for 120GB of Maxtor goodness. 83 cents per GB, after tax! woot!

woot! I checked bestbuy.com again to confirm their next-day shipping price and found out that their current free ground shipping gets deducted from all their shipping options, so next-day is down to $6. of course, I called back staples for the $11 reduction, so now I'm down to $88.xx after tax. yay!

</evil grin> now if I can get a hold of a receipt from bestbuy... </evil grin off>

natgas - do a search on bestbuy.com and staples.com using maxtor part # L01J100. the csr can match it up that way. staples.com listing of the drive is weird because the description section doesn't show manufacturer or part number like their 120gb ultra series HD does. maybe it's because it's a "new introduction" item.

I managed to get them to pricematch it to the Best Buy B&M near me, which brought the price down to $95, added some pens for $8 and applied a $15 off $100 (couldn't find a $20 one that wasn't expired, check your coupons beforehand people! 😉) for a final total of just over $93. Maybe I can do some hunting later and find another coupon code to bring this down $5 more. Thanks for the info!

Finally got a CSR to pricematch, sort of; the total came to $99.04 with my coupon code; not the best deal in the world, but ok for this drive! better than buying from BB (IMHO)!

Got pricematched for 1 (tried for 2) + throw in item to get the total over $100 - $20 off $100. The CSR tried to charge me $9 (BestBuy internet policy), I did the order on bestbuy.com up to checkout, no such thing ($149.99 + tax). The CSR dropped the $9 charge. Hope I get the 8mb version.

I tried to do this in store at 2 different staples and they would not match the price after rebate. I spoke to the manager both times and they would not budge. Is it still Staples policy to match prices after rebate if they don't offer the same rebate? Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can persuade them to match this?

i called staples and got a very nice csr. she pricematched to BB because they had the same deal as compusa. then, after that, she didn't charge me shipping because best buy had free shipping and staples couldn't get them to me via next day shipping. my total for 2 drives is $163.84. Pretty good for 2 of these drives.

I got in on the deal yesterday afternoon. Talked to a very nice CSR. When asked if I can pm, he saids "sure, I just did this a few minutes ago." I was able to get in with 2 hd and 2 20-pack colored CDR for a total of $185.95 shipped. The 20-pack CDR was a discountinued item for $5.90 each.

$189.98 (2x$94.99)
$11.80 (2x$5.90)
$14.17 Tax
-$30 of $150
0 shipping applied
-------------------------------------
$185.95 shipped

Should be here today.

Nice!! Thanks for the heads up guys....

Staples has the drive now with a $40 rebate if purchased between 3/2-3/28 (?). I just bought one AR for ~$90. Which isn't too bad, considering I originally bought the CC WD 80GB deal hoping to get a 100GB out of it.

Drive $149.98 + Pencil $0.40 = $150.38
$30 off $150 coupon
$150.38 - $30 = $120.38
Tax $9.93
$120.38 + $9.93 = $130.31
Less $40 Rebate
Total = $90.31 for 120GB...$0.75/GB

Arrrrrgh!!!!

Where is a coupon code for either $20 off $100 or $15 off $100??? I want a new hard drive too! 🙁
