How do you like your TV? That is exactly what I am getting.

Yes, it was Pilot Freight who used some random local company. The TV is only about 80lbs, what made it so hard to get on a stand?

I got one on cyber monday and love it. the guy help me put it on my stand and everything

of course, he had a spring loaded cargo bar in the back to limit freight movement

he said 'technically I am not supposed to do anything beyond get it to your door, but I can probably help you if its going to be quick.'

It's not that they're all that heavy, but they're a bit awkward to handle by yourself. CAN it be done? Probably...but keep in mind, this is ATOT...home of the skinny weakling nerd...:p

I like the TV. My model is probably older (the 65C9 I think), and the only thing I could complain about is that the menus seem to take awhile to come up. Menus includes the volume bar, so it's only a big deal if you use the TV's internal speakers, and hey... a good TV needs a decent sound system ;).

I can easily lift 80lbs in say a 1x1x1 (foot) package, but the TV is large enough that it becomes unwieldy. I actually got it on top of the stand by lifting on end onto a box of some sort, then I lifted the other end on top of the stand, and finally lifted the end that was resting on the box and put it on the stand.

EDIT:

I was also a bit worried about ruining the DLP's screen by trying to pick it up by myself. I have a 46" DLP that I had no issues carrying up my stairs, but that was near the max of the size that I'd like to carry on my own.

can't beat Costco for extended warranty and return policy for electronics.

True, but you have to consider that Costco usually carries "warehouse" models of sets that often have fewer features than the "regular" model of the same TV. Same with their washers/dryers.

Yep but I am going with a DLP TV. Costco doesn't carry any DLP models. I have very little reason to go with LCD or plasma for the price point.

My living room is large enough to handle a 73" tv easily but I settled on 65". I just can't justify the price for a 65" LCD TV.

I'm still regretting not shelling out the extra $200 for the 73" TV. Well, not really regretting, but whenever I sit down to watch TV, I can see so much of the wall behind me that I really think I could have (and should have) gone bigger.

Did Costco discontinue the 73 inch Mitsubishi DLP?
That thing looks sweet as hell...it's a bit bigger than I really had room for...and a bit more $$$ than I wanted to spend, but sweet picture.

Dell has been living off the reputation they earned a long time ago.
I dont like them. I dont care for most of their products except the Streak. And I would never go directly through them to buy anything.

I've never had a problem with Dell products.

But then I don't purchase the cheap shit either.

I bought my 50" plasma from Dell just before Christmas 2009. I had the set in about a week, delivered to the house and carried into the house by the driver and his lumper. Not a ding or dent in the box, couldn't be happier with the service. They offered to set it up for me and do the initial programming, but I didn't have the stand ready yet, so I passed. (like it was difficult...but maybe for folks who never figured out how to program the clock on their VCR...)

When I had my TV delivered I had them stick it on the stand and turn it on so that if it didn't work I knew before the delivery guy left. It seemed like it could make things easier if it arrived DOA.

Go to a local store for large electronic items.

I was gonna say, besides most major chains will price-match if you find the identical model advertised somewhere.

It's just one of those things where I prefer the ability to pick up and if necessary, return to a local store rather than deal with shipping, bleh. I'll even gladly pay the sales tax to save the hassle.

On smaller things, I love online though.

Hell no. No local stores that I've been to can match the price dell has for the mitsubishi dlps. They mark it up by at least a few hundred bucks minimum.

its not their fault and its not dells fault its the shipping carrier. in my case it was UPS

This is the most widespread problem with people reviewing things online. Most negative reviews for products online have nothing to do with the actual product. In this case, you're saying you're not going to order from Dell again based on something being damaged in shipping ( Rare occurrence IMO.. I've ordered dozens of things from dell and never had anything damaged. )

His title shows he has issues with Dell. He is complaining because Dell said they would do something then told him they couldn't. How is this not valid?

They then further the issue by saying it is impossible to ship something that large overnight, which it turns out it isn't, Dell just doesn't want to / can't.

Maybe there is also a problem with people reading the reviews as well?

Last time i looked, this wasn't the product page for the Mitsubishi TV I ordered.

Your post would be valid if I went and gave the TV a horrible review because Dell did a shitty job of getting it to me. I personally hate people that do that crap on Amazon.

In this case, I just thought I would vent a little and let people know that Dell ,in my case, refused to do what was right in my situation. I also thought it would be valuable for people to know how Dell customer service works when things go wrong.
