UPDATE: Zalman VF700-Cu and 7800GTX?

Anyone know if these are compatible? I would like to make it as quiet as possible, but also maximize cooling.

Thanks.

It is almost certainly better than stock cooling. It's a 2 slot cooler made out of copper, which is pretty much always going to be better than a 1 slot aluminum cooler, even if the design is worse. It drops temps on every card up to the 7800gtx, I don't see why it should have changed. Also the cooler has a few mounting options and is compatible with almost everything currently available, it would be very surprising if it didn't work on the 7800's.

Dear Jared,

Based on the design spec (physical layout and the heat generation) of the 7800GTX, VF700-Cu should be compatible.

But, this hasn?t been officially confirmed by our engineering department.

Please check our web site time to time to verify the update of the compatibility information.

I want a NV Silencer. Blow the hot air out the back of the case. These 7800GTX's are so dang hot. Mid 50's at idle! Ugh.

Since the NV silencer isn't compatible with my card (XFX 6600GT) I just got the Zalman VF700-cu and then put a PCI slot fan next to it to blow out the hot air...works like a charm!

whats the load?

i prefer the vf700 over the silencer but i have 2 80mm front intakes that blow right over the area. dremelled out some holes in the pci slot covers i have left and it adds a bit more airflow.

What's the big deal if the silencer blows the hot air out of the case, you have exhaust case fans, dont you? I'm using a vf700 on my 9800p, and I'm impressed with its construction quality and cooling capacity. And I have 2 exhaust fans, so I dont need a 3rd one, I'd rather have a better cooler. I havent tried the silencers, but the fv700 by far the quietest fan in my case even on high setting, and I get 440 mhz on the core without artifacts (according to rthdribl). It gets 455 using atitool, but it lies about artifacts, so I dont trust atitool. As far as cooling capacity goes, I'm sure no other air cooler beats a vf700cu.
