Also, if you don't have your Windows Automagic Updates enabled, it's Microsoft's monthly "Patch Tuesday." There are updates for some Windows components at http://update.microsoft.com.
If you have Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc) you can check for updates at Office Update too. This is especially important if you have Office2000-generation products, which can't be updated via the Microsoft Update site. If your system needed an Office service pack, then go back again for another run after it's installed the service pack.
