Update XP Clients Automatically - Please help..

OK.. Hopefully someone can offer some solutions for me.

I'm looking for either an automated system or some way to use scripts to deploy patches, updates, etc to my Windows XP machines. Preferrably also able to to update MS Office and other applications.

I really have no clue what is available out there. I know that there is MS SMS and MS SUS (free). I'm looking for alternatives.

Can someone point me to a site with any information on this?
