UPDATE: WinXP freezes resolved

Hi all. I posted a few messages over the past few days about my Windows XP system freezing randomly on me. After experimenting with some BIOS settings, I finally found the solution to my freezing problem.

I changed the setting for my CPU FSB from 166MHz to 133 MHz. However, my CPU is an Athlon XP 3000+, and I was under the impression that this CPU has a 166 MHz FSB. Now my system reports a processor of "AMD Athlon 1.73 GHz". When the FSB speed was set to 166 MHz, it had reported "AND Athlon XP 3000+".

Any idea why running my CPU FSB at (what I think is) the correct setting would cause my system to freeze?

On the bright side, my system runs great now with no freezes. But I would like to be able to utilize the full power of my CPU.

Thanks again to all for your help.

It's been so long since I bought it, I'm actually not sure what kind of RAM I have. Would I be able to tell by looking at the stick of RAM itself?
