Update video card now or wait????

Hi all I have a new system build in progress. It contains the following.
P5N-E SLI mb
2 Gig Twin XMS
2 500 g SATA
2 320 g SATA
1 IDE 300 g
1 IDE 400 g
2 NEC 3500
Antech 480w ps
I'm looking for a new video card and was looking for advise. I don't game that much but when I do I like it to be top shelf. Should I wait for the new 8600 flavors or go with a x1950xt
budget not more than $300.

Wait for a direct X10 card . I would wait for ATi's cards to ship and a price drop from Nvidea.
