pentagon Brass to announce at 5PM if local Lockheed plant will get Marine One contract

This would be a good boost for our local area (after losing most of IBM) IBM pulled so much out of our area (including where i live in Endicott - the BIRTHPLACE of IBM!!!!!!!!! - they sold all the original buildings)

BTW, housing is fairly inexpensive here, so if this works out some of you graduation engineers may want to apply to Lockheed up here in Owego, NY 😉

***UPDATE*** The contract DID go to Lockheed. Good News for our local area!!!!! Any of you ATOT fresh grads looking for a job - this may be a good opportunity (this is a nice area too, but since I live here and grew up here I am a bit biased 😉 )

😕 But any helicopter the US president is in is called Marine One.

Yeah, but the aircraft still carry that designation in informal non-military literature. It's just like the damn thing is always "Air Force One" in the press, regardless of who's on it.

i hope lockheed gets it
...just announced...Lockheed got the contract. Is this good for our economy? The lockheed team is composed of European aerospace companies while the Sikorsky team are purely Americans. Jobs will surely go abroad. I'll wait for the next chapter on this...
