Yesterday night, I discovered my dog was injured. Discussed it here breifly.
Well, after talking to the fiance, at about 9:30 PM we decided it was probably a bruise. The dog fell asleep. An hour later he got up an was at the edge of the bed just standing there, shaking a little bit. THis freaked me out. My fiance called her mom and her mom said not to worry and wait till tommorrow. (her parents are yes people. Everything is always OK). She hung up, I said bullsh!t, we're going to the vet. Bills and stuff don't matter. I didn't realize till that moment that I really love my dogs. They were just pets up to this point.
Anyways, after playing phone tag for about 10 minutes, we finally found an emergency vet. 40-50 miles away in another state!! Oh boy. Needless to say, we went there. Only took about 22 minutes for some reason. Go figure
It was all I-95
We got to the vet and to make a long story short, it turned out that my dog has an inflamed disk in the neck. It's inflamed on the top part of the neck, so when we were picking the dog up, thinking his ribs were broke or something worse, it was just that the dog was picking his head up and tilting it back on his ownand in doing so he was pinching the inflamation even more. That's what was causing the pain. THe dog got a shot at the vet and was pain free.
He will be on medicine for I forget how many weeks. We also have to take extra care to make sure he doesn't reinjure it. We have to do this for 6 weeks. This is not going to be easy to do with a 6 month old cocker spaniel in the same house.
Anyways, it was a good thing we went to the vet and everything is going to be fine.
What a fun night. Got home at 2 am
