Wow, SSDs rebranded by stores already. Here's hoping for price wars and reductions. Otherwise, the rebrand might be for older or low end SSD stock. The non-sale price looks ok. It's not on sale, controller is unknown, only 1 year warranty. I wouldn't gamble on it unless it gets to under $100.

What I noticed the most is the difference in Write speed. vs what microcenter had on other drives... seemed higher.

Very interesting though.
 
It definitely doesn't use the JMicron controller. I was thinking it might be a Samsung OEM unit, but sense wouldn't make sense since it's using Intel flash on it.
 
What will the customer do for firmware updates, if they purchase a store-brand SSD? Doesn't sound very good to me.

(Unless, of course, the label is the only thing that the store adds, and that, once you find out who the OEM is, then you can update the firmware like normal.)
 
Whoa, I work at Microcenter and I've never seen that before. Must be new. I'll see what I can find out at work tomorrow.

Although, there is a good chance that it's Kingston related as our house-brand SD cards and USB flash drives are Kingstons.

I thought that Microcenter's house-brand USB flash drives were A-DATA. They look like ADATA for sure.

Last time I got one it was a Kingston DataTraveler. They do change from time to time. I'm not sure, I don't work up front where they keep those drives so I don't see em very often.

I just looked at the SSD up close. This one is definitely an A-DATA, it has their warranty sticker on it. The number G64GNMB020390 is stamped on the side, though google turns up nothing for that.

Interesting drive, it actually has a built-in mini-USB port as well as the regular SATA connectors.

I was thinking adata but microcenter didn't mention the mini-usb as a feature... heh.
Now to figure out if it supports TRIM and/or Garbage Collection...

correct! 64gigs for 150 is way more attractive than the other drives.
 
OK, more info.
This drive is identical to the ADATA S596 (sku# 561647 on our website). Same number printed on the side and everything.

I thought JMF612 was still unreleased. JM618 is supposed to be in use today.

The JMf612 is supposed to have 170+mb/s write speeds.

I could be completely wrong since there's conflicting data all over the internet.

I stand corrected. It's a JMF612 drive.
