Update the MBP now!1!1

Parasitic

Diamond Member
The mid-level MBP with 8600M GT 256MB, 160GB HDD, and 2.4GHz C2D is $2194 at school now...so tempted to get it but part of me want to wait and see what the new update would be... 🙁

wait. We can do this Parasitic.

If the new MBP don't come out on Tuesday I will literally be sick to my stomach. I cant wait much longer... I wish Apple would just TELL us when they are expected to be out.

I don't think it will ever happen now, thanks to the Air. There's already a 13" MacBook and a thin 13" MacBook Air. A 13" MacBook Pro would simply be too confusing to the general population. Plus the Air is already at $1799, which would make a 13" MacBook Pro ridiculously expensive so as not to cannabalize the Air's marketshare.

🙁

I think right now I'm holding out for a 13" LED MacBook. I really don't know what Apple was thinking by not releasing an ultraportable MBP, but then I don't know what the numbers were for the 12" PowerBook...it may simply not be a profitable niche. Which would be unfortunate.

Thats what I'm kind of mad about. As of now, the air has 2gb ram soldered right, which makes expansion 0. I loved my 12" g4 powerbook and a 13" would have made more of an impact than the macbook air.

Apple should have made a rev C model of the macbook (which would make it the macbook air) and then made an update to the macbook pro line. Other than the SSD hard drive, I don't see what makes the macbook air 1800 for the base model.

My 5 cents

Well, I am pretty sure that finding a way to cram all that the Air does have into an enclosure that thin does not come at a low R&D cost.

This is probably a sign that there's a new update to the laptop lineup soon (although most of us already know). Soon after I bought my Macbook (from another school) last year about a month later a revision came out.
