This is a very good cause !!

I am devoting 3 1 gig plus pc's to this :D

I think this is something that DC technology can make a differance !!

here is a link and a quote: TSC

The work we do on TSC will also have a direct impact on cancer research !!!!!

Welcome to the CTSC team, Sharpstick! :)

This is a relatively sparse DC project so far. Your contribution will make a noticeable impact!

so you got any client hints or tricks?

Which cpu's are fasters, do you need ram? fsb matter? etc etc

Can you hide it from the computer user? Is it firedaemonable?

SMP?? Linux? All these important questions and no answers !?!?!?! :)

about what I should expect from a gig of athlon tbird/xp?

I'm going to have to start charging DC consulting fees.

CTSC uses the D2OL client. O/S's supported are Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS 10.1+. No SMP.

There is a default client mode for each O/S, but the controller can be set to run as Java, CLI, or file based.

As far as which CPU is faster, etc., you will have to determine that for yourself, or go to the D2OL forums and try to find the info (I don't recall that the CTSC forums had that info). I can only tell you my experience. I found that the Linux client (default settings) runs about 25% faster than the Windows client. This could be for a number of reasons. I average about 95 candidates/day on an MP@1.533 GHz and about 120 candidates/day on XP@1.917 GHz.

Just to give you an idea of how underpowered this project is, the XP and two MP's listed above are the top three nodes overall for weekly production.

My Athon at 1533 has completed 65 in 18 hours , while playing 6 hours of Tac-op's without even a hiccup, but my duron running Win 2000 completes 1 block then send's report then crashes..lol, restart it it does 1 block send's report and crashes again...

gonna have to play with it.

I think children's cancer research is the most important DC computing we can do as a group, alien's are cool I guess but I have 5 kid's and they are alot more important to me than finding an alien :D
