Update Sun Java Runtime if you have it installed

Secunia's bulletin contains links to the necessary updates for your Sun Java stuffs. If you have Java installed, but suddenly you realize...

 :light:
:Q ~ dude, I nevar use Java, why's it even installed?

...then you might want to uninstall it until you actually have a need for it. Can't be exploited if it ain't there... 😉 Ditto for other software, take a glance through your Add/Remove Programs list (or your Programs & Features list, on Vista).

In keeping with the security theme, it would be a good time to check your other stuff for security vulnerabilities using the Secunia Personal Software Inspector beta, which is free of charge for non-commercial users. You might be surprised at the attackable stuff it finds on your system.

One thing to add about Java Runtime updates:

Updates to the Java Runtime install do not uninstall previous versions. The Java Runtime is designed so that multiple versions can be installed simultaneously on the same machine. While this is useful for developers, it's not really necessary for most end users, and malicious applets can try and load a specific (read: vulnerable) version of the JRE in order to get a particular exploit to work.

When you update the Java Runtime, be sure to go to Add/Remove programs afterwards and uninstall any older versions that could be vulnerable.
