UPDATE: Strange Registry Error. How can I restore/fix my registry? (Win2k)

Alright, after going through BIOS a little bit...I got the HD to work. Looks like it hasn't melted.

However...I did find that I have a new problem. That blue screen that I saw...while I couldn't pause, it...I whipped out the digicam and took a fast pic of it. Here's what it says...

STOP: c0000218 (something like that) (Registry File Failure)
The registry cannot load the hive (File)
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, abset or not writable.

Well, the users of AT are as good of a support group as any.

Now...my question is...WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

Is there a way to fix the reg error other than reinstalling Win2k?

I've received a number of PMs. Thanks a lot guys. 🙂 I hope you guys know what's going on with this one.

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary so I'm completely baffled. Damn. This is the first problem I don't know what the heck is going on.

Dose the beeping sound like a police siren or just a steady beep? if neither how many beeps?

Actually, I was wondering about that. It is a continous stream of beeps...non-stop so I'm not about to sit here counting to 1,000,000..., it's very annoying.

Also, when detecting the HD during startup...I get this.

ER40A44A IC35L040AVER07-0

Now...I don't know but I don't think that's what usually shows up when I boot up.
