what a sad story. It's kind of what I expected though, based on the initial story. Ppl may get fat for a bunch of reasons, but they only try melding with the couch out of depression and fear.

... stuck too far from the stove to cook, ...
:Q:confused::Q:confused:

Dear Lord.. I don't think that was too high on her list of problems..

Her case was so disturbing that some members of the ER crew that night sought counseling, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Damn..

LOL...

Yes it was.

On the radio they said the 600lbs was including the weight of the couch.

Very disturbing article. I know someone like this. I should probably get on the phone.

Do it - however much responsibility someone bears for their own situation, sometimes the truth is they can't recover without intervention.

It took me years to convince my brother he needed to lose weight (he wasn't this heavy by a lot). With help and support, he's lost 50 pounds from his peak weight and is no longer in the danger zone for diabetes and other weight-triggered problems.

stuck too far from the stove to cook, too far from the bathroom to take a shower.

Ummm, WTF? Unless they moved the couch next to the stove and set up a showerhead to spray onto the couch, the fact that she was stuck to the couch would preclude her from doing either of these things. I mean, that's what happens when you get stuck to a piece of furniture.

"She had a giant appetite, but she told friends a thyroid problem made her obese."
Sounds like a case of HandToMoutharitis

You break your leg because you are a lardass...not once but twice...and then sit on the couch in your own fecal matter eating Doritos and drinking soda until the couch fabric absorbs into your skin.

There is no one to blame but the dead woman.

When you say "that time of the month", do you mean "hummer week"?

I bet the woman from the article had one heck of a "come-hither" stare... oh, wait, nevermind, that would have just been the force of gravity.

Exactly, and as one of her siblings stated:

"Some say we should go to jail for letting her deteriorate," the 44-year-old Kendricks said. "Why should we go to jail? Gayle was a grown woman. She could make her own decisions."
