Does anyone know what is the difference between the 710N and 710N-2?

Just updating price on a heads up from cK. I wonder how much lower their pricing is going to go with this? I'll wager final price will be $199, and greatly advertised as "Gamers LCD for UNDER $200!!!"... It already seems like they're practically giving it away... which also makes me wonder...why? Haha, I'm a skeptic sometimes ;)

Got mine today. I'm having a really difficult time getting this thing configured properly. Colors are either too bright or too dull, the shading is horrible, and the text is not very clear. The most irritating thing is the text, it seems like it goes from crisp to "fat" or "blurry" in 1/2 inch alternating sections all the way across the screen from left to right.

I don't know what to do with it. My half dead, four year old Viewsonic CRT is better.

If anybody has any tips they could send my way I'd greatly appreciate it.

Ordered one early last week when the price went to $200 AR shipped and was so impressed with the quality after I installed it that I ordered a second one the next day even though the price had gone up a dollar. Superb color and contrast. I gave them both to my wife who does a lot of graphic work. I think we can finally retire the 19" CRT's (no cheapo either, Samsung 900NF and 950p...OT, but the 950p delivers a better image now than the 900NF even though the 900NF was a high end monitor.)

Although the price has crept back up to $205 AR shipped, if you are looking for a 17" LCD, the 710n-2 is a steal.

60 Hz ? 1280x1024 & nothing else!
If that does not work you have a problem.
This monitor is sharp as a tack.

Edited to say, make sure that you do not have any interference on the analog input.

Under Properties, Appearance, Advanced, selecting Clear Type for smoothing edges helped me a lot in getting things sharper with this monitor. Also, Samsung's MagicTune software helped in setting things up also.

Its now $191.99 shipped from Nextwarehouse.com! Order by 3/31 to be eligible for rebate.

http://www.nextwarehouse.com/prod.cfm/128292/SAMSUNG/710N-2-BLACK

I placed my order on 3-21@10pm, recieved it on 3-24@10am. Not bad speed for free shipping! The site kinda looks shady, as it lacks any product info, but I read the site reviews on pricegrabber and they are reputable.

As for the monitor, what a beauty! Display had no dead pixels, very bright, images extremely sharp. Incredible specs for this price, you cant beat anywhere. 600:1 constrast ratio, 12ms response time, and Samsung quality with 3 year warranty!

Yup! The Koreans are really focused on getting things right. Probably the most industrious people on earth.
Now, if the North Sea oil ever dried up, and if pillaging, raping, plundering, raiding and killing were ever to come back into vogue, I'm sure the Norwegians could again lay claim the title now held in S. Korea.
