Update refuses to install: Vista

MS Update keeps trying to download and install an update for my 17" wide flat screen monitor. It is refused every time by whatever mechanism does that in my computer. I've tried making a hole for it in my firewall but that hasn't worked. This has been going on for about 3 months. Any ideas?
