ok so I got into setup, and started the Recovery Console.

So far so good right? Well, Recovery Console does not detect my current installation of WindowsXP!!!! :|

This means I probably will have to reformat and reinstall WinXP! Damn I wish I didn't have to do that, I don't really have time for it.

Oh well. Sucks ass.

The drive with xp on it wouldn't happen to be on a secondary controller like promise or high point?

I had the promise chip on my a7v board quit working about 18 months ago and I got the same error with win 2000.

Also if it is on a secondary controller you probobly need to provide drivers for xp to even see the drive.

the drive does show up. I can access it and everything. I ran a scandisk and it said it detected errors and moved some data around.

However when I use Recovery COnsole in WinXP, it cannot detect the windows installation.

Running bootcfg /scan in the Recovery COnsole doesn't detect any installation either.

What other options do I have? I was hoping that Windows Repair would detect the installation and replace whatever files I am missing. I guess not! =(

I would suggest downloading software from the manufacturers site who made your hard drive and run the test utilities on your drive.
