Some time ago I posted a message re: my crazy anticts to mount my entire computer under my desk and to downgrade. Yes, you heard correctly, downgrade :)

I've gotten most of the components mounted but need some help re: the cards. If you look at any card, there's a plate which you can see from the rear of the case after it's been installed. The problem is that the plate extends pass the motherboard in order to plant itself with part of the case for stability. But that extra length is now allowing me to mount my cards since the motherboard is connected under the desk w/ minimal space between them.

This doesn't leave room for the extra length of the plate on the cards. I need suggestions or comments on how I could cut the part of the plate off, which is the easiest solution. I don't have a dremel too so I''m unable to do it. Help guys/gals :)

Cut a groove in the desk just deep enough and narrow enough to accept the metal plate (if the desk is thick enough). This will add some stability to the setup, and the card will still be as good as new if you ever take it out.
