My wife is pregnant (yippie!!!!!) and if we have a girl we are trying to decide if we should spell Sara(h) with or without an "h".

What do you think?

Let's keep it nice and friendly...I'm just curious as to what you think.

Thanks!

Are you really asking an online forum full of people you've never met what you should name your child?

g/f is named Sara and everyone who meets her spells her name Sarah on paper. Go ahead and add the h to save the girl some trouble in the future.

Common...yes, but it has a very special meaning to us.

Fair enough, I was actually going to edit the post and say "unless there is sentimental value attached to the name". If that is the case, no 'h'

If it has a sentimental meaning then why don't you spell it the same way the person who it comes from spelled it?

I would never name my kid Sara/h. All the sara/hs I have known were very easy. When ever me and my wife have a child I will elimnate any name of people I knew based on them.

So Sara/h = slut, Wesley = idiot, etc...

If we have a boy then I will name him Bruce. Never knew any bad bruces. A girl I am not sure.

I have a funny "Sarah" story...keep in mind this is all "pre-internet" days.

My sister was cursed with a rather poor first name. So when she got into college, she decided to change her name to "Sarah". I was getting married shortly after that, so I bought her a plane ticket to come to my wedding. When the telephone reservation agent asked if that was with or without an "h", I thought for a few seconds and said, "I don't know." Her response was, "You don't know how to spell your sisters name????"

FWIW, she spells hers with the "h", which I guessed correctly.

Sara sounds like a name from the venerable culture of India.

Sarah is the girl's name. Isn't Sarah especially popular in the Jewish religion?

Anyway, it's a pretty name.

Because my wife like the "h". Both of my grandmothers names were Sara, I personally like it with no "h" as it is more original. Like my name with only one L (Mitchel).

I like the H, but if you are naming her after someone I would keep the spelling the same as the person/s she's being named after.

So what if the name is common? I'd rather name my kids with a common name than some weird ass name or fucked up spelling.

Anyway, Sarah ftw!

Sarah

Between high school and college I dated 4 Sara/hs, 3 with an H, 1 without. The 1 without an H was completely batshit.
