In an urlier post I asked about a mysterious Pentium 3 900 Mhz cpu
link
There is a HP pc system with an Intel P3 900 and a local supermarket is selling them here.

I just called Intel and they told me it does exist: " It's a strictly OEM fcpga 100 Mhz fsb P3." and they didn't know how the supermarket got a hold of them. they were asked before and new the name of the store. The Contact person from Intel wasn't aware of the fact that HP was offerring them aswell. He did emphesize that there was no Intel warranty at all it being an OEM chip.

A link to the HP is in the other thread.

It's like the k6-3/333 that no one thinks existed until you get one in your hand..

From what I remember, the 9x multiplier was way too high. Only a limited supply of P3-900 processors were ever released because of extremely low yields. So if you got one, and it runs stable, consider yourself lucky :)

WHOA!!! They updated their S-Spec page because I swear to god it was not there when the original thread was posted. Alot more cC0 stepping CPUs are now listed. DAMN YOU, YOU DAMN DIRTY INTEL!!! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!!

What does this mean when referring to cC0 stepping CPUs?

<< Vcc Core Voltage - 1.70 V/Requires a motherboard with a split plane for the Vcc >>

How do I tell if my BX board supports cC0? If it needs a voltage bump to 1.7 to operate at rated speed, would I be better off getting at cB0 at 1.65v at the same rating?

Thx Wally for the link.

Windogg easy man... there no reason imho, you can't blame Intel for trying to make chips.
What are the facts?

1. There are P3 900 cpu in a few OEM systems for sale.
2. Intel does not deny that they exist.
3. According to Intel they are not for the retail market, and thus don't have Intel warrenty.
4. The trading of these chips is not controled by Intel according to their spokesperson

Anything else?

peemo: processor steppings such as CB0 and CC0 do not have any set of requirements... if your motherboard supports a Pentium 3 than it supports cc0 or cb0 in that matter. Also they bumped upt he voltage to 1.7 for better stability I guess but it is still a better core so the cc0's are the one's to get

Don't worry windogg it wasn't there before. I have the screen capture. there was however always a p3 1 ghz at 10*100.

So what's a "split plane for the Vcc" and how do I know if I qualify? The S specs don't list this requirement for the cB0.

You think 900/100's are low yield, how about 1000/100's? Check this. Bring out that 10x multiplier baby!
