Hah, wait. These guys are illegal. We know their names. And the headling of the story is about them beating MIT?

Am I the only one that sees a problem with this?

I'm pretty numb to it by now. CA is full of those fkers depleting state resources. Sorta bitter that an illegal family making $100K/year cash doing gardening doesn't pay any taxes and gets welfare and gets to go to college for free.
well since you put it that way...

(And no, I don't have anything against them, it's just a matter of time before someone is outraged that 4 illegals are getting money to go to college)

$50 says Nik makes the first 'get out of our country' post

I haven't seen Nik around.
My best guess is that he went off his meds and he's hiding under his desk sucking his thumb.

I'm not saying I'm for an open border policy. However I'm saying there is no fix to this problem. Even if we did start pouring billions into border patrol, what would you have us do about those already in the country? Those that have already been here for decades and have naturalized children due to birth? Would you break up families? We are getting more and more unAmercian as we speak.
You (well, America) has already shot itself in the foot, so the best approach I can think of is to jack up border patrol and stop this huge influx of illegals. Then, for those here, you basically have to give amnesty. Leaving them in a limbo is not helping anybody. Then, going forward, stop letting in two million a year.
BTW I don't know about alabama but sales tax in CA is 7.25%, this money goes directly to the local state and county government. Along with taxes on gas, the immigrants here pay quite a bit.
And if you like most people I bet you pay a heck of a lot more than that in property taxes and state/federal income taxes. We could of course scrap income taxes and jack sales taxes up to 35% or something. At least that would ensure no free loaders.

BTW, afaik, most illegals who are doing this labour are not being paid below minimum wage. I've never asked, but I suspect that if I went to pick up a mexican tomorrow to do some work (I say mexican because they congregate in certain areas here every morning waiting for people to give them work) for $5/hour he'd probably tell me to ah heck off.
How's the situation in Alabama?
Rampant with illegals. It's not uncommon for a vast number of them to rent an apartment in a wealthy area and send their kids to high end schools here. Sometimes those schools need to hire spanish-speaking individuals, even though these new students are not paying one iota into the education system. I sold my car to one guy who was probably using fake ID. I've seen one use a fake SS number to try and get a license. When he was told to leave because of this he just left. This is a criminal act, and yet nobody gave a sh*t.

I think it's a misconception that illegal aliens don't pay any taxes.

Income tax is the biggest source of revenue, which most illegals don't pay.

They should be granted citizenship. They seem like promising individuals.

Hey wtf it took me 11 years of limbo to get citizenship, and you want these fkers to get it bc of some stupid robots?

Sure, especially the one that is going to Caltech. He will be a great asset to this country. In fact, just by going to college means that they are an asset to this country.

Personally, I feel that we should grant automatic citizenship to anyone who gets a degree in engineering/science in the US.

They're just kids. I don't know the specifics of their situation, but usually children don't have much control over their immigration status.

If they were 40 years old, maybe I'd have a different attitude.

We love to reminisce old stories how immigrants in the past came with nothing but clothes on their back, but they made it in the land of opportunity. But, those immigrants were not welcome either, like jews, irish, italians, or slavs at the turn of the century.

Just a thought.

There is a big differece between ILLEGAL immigration and LEGAL immigration.

HAHA that's funny. Just because it was "legal" for them to immigrate into this country, considering they POURED in makes it right? Even if the system controlling their incoming was corrupt? They same thing is happening today except one was ?legal? and today it?s not. Besides people then did not need to worry about Social Security to get jobs or other documents. There was no way to know if someone was legal or not. Modern circumstances have created today?s problems. People have lost focus of the argument they're just arguing whether over the legality of immigration not the people behind it. Did you ever think of the children behind these "illegals" (has become a quasi racial slur now). How would you feel if you were threatened to go back to a country you have no recollection of? Heh, and it's not only Mexicans. You have Europeans, Africans, South Americans, Asians people from everywhere. They only way to solve this problem is to tightened the boarders NOW and deal with the people in the US later.

What is so confusing about this? Perhaps not automatic citizenship but at least documents so they are allowed to WORK and TRAVEL freely. They would only be a positive asset to society. You have no idea how helpless you feel with the thought that all of this would be taken away. The parents who were originally from the country might not feel as maladjusted about it but certainly the children would. And the misconception that illegal aliens don't pay taxes and reap the system ITS BECAUSE THEY CAN'T PAYTAXES. Being from a large Brazilian community in MA I know ALL of them would pay their taxes if it gave them a chance at legality. My parents took a CHANCE and paid taxes years ago and now thankfully all of our papers are going through.

Flylice: I understand your resentment because you (and your family) put in a legal effort to obtain your citizenship, unlike the 'others' whom you despise of. But in your agrument you have increasingly made yourself a mindless racist. IMO, you are nothing but a Mexican-hating narcissist.

If I am a racist for saying that I don't want any more Mexicans illegally coming into my country then I guess you can brand me with the label. I couldn't care less really. What? Do some people actually think of some other nationality when thinking of illegal immigration?
