I picked up an Asus P4B266 to test my 1.6A and Samsung PC2700 on. Right now I'm reinstalling Win2k, but the CPU voltage is 1.50V.

It used to fluctuate between 1.39V-1.44V on the BG7 and 1.47V on the BD7-II. It's a solid 1.50V on the P4B266. I'm using the same Antec 300W power supplu as before.

I'll keep you guys updated as to how high I can overclock on the P4B266 using the same components. Lmk if there's any special trick/settings that I should keep in mind, and how much the turbo timings affect how high the RAM will go.

This is odd... I checked the core voltage again after I finished installing everything... It's 1.63V!!! I checked it on a whim using the Asus Probe, and then I checked it the BIOS to make sure... 1.63V!!!

I don't get it. Everything's set on AUTO, and I'm not even overclocking yet! What's going on?

What do you mean? Will it stay at 1.63V, will it drop, and do you know why it happens?

I can overclock at the 1.63V level, but if it drops down on its own I'm screwed.

its normal for it to be higher then what you set it at. concider it a blessing ;)
my board does the same thing.

it wont drop and you wont be screwed. just keep on overclocking.
remember to quote us your applied voltages tho - and not what you set it to in bios.

I see that with the BG7, it has legacy support and the better audio along with more limited USB 2.0, but no ATA/133 support or RAID.
But does the BG7 have the PCI lock like the IT7? :)
