As of March 2009, the first Stargate Atlantis movie has reached the script-writing stage. Executive producers Paul Mullie and Joseph Mallozzi are doing the honors. No filming date has yet been announced, and at last word the cast had not yet been contacted.

In fact, they are going to make another SG1 movie before the Atlantis movie.
And in case you hadn't noticed they still haven't even got the cast signed up.
I really have some doubts they will ever make the finale to Atlantis.

Of course, just when Atlantis was starting to get better, NBC decides to cancel it . SciFi is such a waste of a channel since NBC started running it into the ground years ago.

Yes, I'm guessing Bonnie Hammer sits around thinking how can she alienate more of her viewers? Gee, lets start by considering cancelling Chuck. And then lets just leave the series finale up in the air for our loyal viewers of Stargate. After all, they'll still tune in like sheeple to our new ultra low budget Stargate:Universe show.

They are just now writing the script ? Sounds like a last minute deal.
Yeah, which makes me think its never going to happen. Gotta wonder if the cast is even signed for it.

I think that they've done well enough with the other movies that this will be another straight to DVD release

To be honest, I'm okay w/ that; although I miss watching new weekly episodes I did enjoy the straight to DVD movies thus far. 🙂
