UPDATE on 'OCZ EXPOSED' story: "OCZ Technology Responds To Outlandish Internet Claims"

Found this at warp2search:

There is a fiery thread running at the MadOnion forums. Apparently OCZ is making their customers believe to be a major company with own manufacturing capabilities. According to Mr. Natural the author of the threat and article OCZ is nothing more than your neighbourhood computer shack. Very interesting indeed. He backs up his conclusions with photographs and registered businesses information.

Well it looked like OCZ were guilty, didn't it? Well maybe not just as OCZ now issued a press release trying to explain what lies beneath the story:

Looks like OCZ was set up! Now I don't know if I feel bad for the company or what...

Well one thing that is completely undeniable is they are under investigation for over 4 counts of fraud by the BBB, that alone should tell you something.
They also have their nice little lawsuit with AMD over remarking their Athlon 'ThunderBird' processors. Even ignoring the latest claims against OCZ there is tons of evidence that their not quite what I'd deem 'reputable'.

To whom it may concern,
My name is Jeffrey T. Williams. I live in Portage Indiana and have been employed by OCZ Technology Group during the past four months in a management position. I was recently involved in a plot to damage the reputation of the company I work for, OCZ Technology Group. I maintain that I did not knowingly do so at the time, however I feel the need to make a statement concerning this.

OK, I'm calling ass on this, for a couple of reasons. For one, and it's a piddly thing, their press release is rife with typos and poor grammar. I sincerely doubt if they were a top-notch company as they would like us to believe, they wouldn't have a secretary or two on staff to correct a press release.

Also, their shenanigans and actions here on AT in the past are inexcusable.

Also, this quote smacks of BS -
During negotiations with Noble Computers, an employee, operating out of a remote sales office in Grandby , Colorado , made an offer to purchase the domains from both organizations.
. I live in Colorado, and Granby (correct spelling) is a little burg of a town out in the middle of nowhere up in the mountains. They have a gas station and a Taco Bell/KFC. They DO NOT have a computer store. The closest computer store is Mountain High Technology in Steamboat Springs.

Wait a minute guys....they offered a life time replacement guarantee on their modules, they have to be legit...right?? 😉

I feel bad for anyone with something labeled OCZ in their box right now. If you act fast you may still be able to ditch your stuff on Egay for a reasonable price and cut your losses. 🙂

Not sure, Xerox man, what you're referring to about typos and grammar. Most of it is accurate. The majority of the mistakes I saw were in the "statement" by the employee. Most of the mistakes in the release overall were things like an extra space before a period or comma, and there were only a few of those. If they needed to rush the release out in order to show a response, that could explain it not being perfect.

As for the seeming "convenience" of them having an employee statement like that, it could be called "convenient" that you happen to live in Colorado and just happen to be reading about this story. Conspiracies and fakes can be found in nearly anything if you try. (Yes, obviously there are a lot of people in CO and a high chance of someone there reading about this. The point still stands though.)

I can't comment on whether any of it's valid, I never bought anything from OCZ because they looked shifty to me in the first place. That doesn't necessarily mean they've done anything wrong, that was just my opinion. Being under investigation or having a lawsuit against them doesn't necessarily mean they've actually committed any wrongdoing in those cases (until it's proven), and having somebody post stories about them on a message board doesn't prove anything either.

OCZ claims might not have been busted had the not gone so far over the edge. at the their boldest they said they got to choose where on the wafer their specific dies came from. so not only do they make the special better then jdec PCB(actually made by pgp) they are in touch with samsung, hynix and micron cherry picking dies out of the clean room:Q then you have their claimed testing... they supposedly tested Q3,sandra burn in, and threee other things basically roughly 40mins of testing....practically making their testing capacity very low..(and very labor intensive)

and whats this BS?
OCZ Technology Groups would like to announce the OCZ Titanium 5000 Aluminum Case .
make up your friggin mind when you name a rebadged case.:| if your not gonna make the case, at least make up a something not so crappy🙁

Whatever the case, Lord Evermore, they've had some shifty business practicies in the past - posting bogus reviews on Reseller Ratings, placing insiders here on AT to talk up their product, etc.

Well the BBB also has listed 9 resolved cases in which OCZ was found at fault 😛
As for the AMD lawsuit, it's pretty much clear they are definitely guilty in that case.

Listed under 3 pseudonyms on ResellerRating's, two of which have been given a permanent 0.0 rating. lol
The list of OCZ disreputable dealings is endless.
