Well, it took a week longer to get the car than previously thought (schedule conflicts) and was $650 in the end, not $600, but here are some pics of it as it sat the day after it arrived:

The car's front end

The car's rear end

Driver's side inside view

Passenger's inside view

The dash

Seems to be running great...has small stuff that needs looking to, but nothing major at all. ABS, PW, A/C, tilt, cruise, power door locks, power mirrors, decent 6-speaker stereo system that actually sounds fairly good but needs the CD player add-on head unit added in, non-power seats but the driver's seat does have individual manual tilt adjustments for the front and rear of the seat cushion, no cracks, tears, or other defects in the interior......only a dirty driver's side floor mat. The new tires turned out to be almost new Michelins.....granted, they're some "cheapie" Michelins from Sears (Weatherwise Sports), but I figure they've GOT to be better than those off-brand cardboard tires like those from Pep Boys.

1994, 125K, and a two-week old Mistu freshly factory-rebuilt transmission......and on the trip down from Norther VA, it averaged 27-28 mpg doing a fairly constant 85mph.

Since you hardly even paid for the transmission much less the car you have a great deal there. :)

Yeah, what was the story? why was it $600?

Edit, nevermind found the story. Cliff notes: Your bro works in a shop, car needed major repairs, owner said forget it here's the title, car gets fixed and then sold to you at a loss.

None of the previous dealings really make any sense though. The previous owner was dumb to "give" the car to the shop. And the shop was dumb to eat the repair costs for no reason.

So while YOUR post is positive, the previous owner of the car is posting "my pos galant needed so many repairs I just gave it to the $*(^ shop" and the shop owner is posting "I got hosed by some idiot customer and now I'm out $2000 in parts" but the reality is, neither of them deserved to lose the $.

You're probably going to need some connections to a repair shop - and I do mean good connections. Chances are if the shop does the needed repairs, they'll sell the car for market value and not $650 like C'Dale got his for. :)

ah. so the car went in for repairs, repairs were done, but the customer couldn't pay so the shop took the car and title, and sold it at a loss. you got lucky man.

I just bought a 91 Explorer XLT for $650.00.

Needs about $200.00 in repairs which I am doing this weekend..--vacuum modulator on the tranny, ps pump, 2 tires, change all fluids and filters, drivers front wheel bearing, and a clean up of the 4wd motor so the 4wd will work. Also changed out the air charge temp sensor.

I'm selling the vehicle to my sister for what I put into it. All in all its a nice vehicle. Not as good a deal as yours, but decent nonetheless.
