Well, instead of updating my old one I figured I would just make a short second thread to show pictures of where everything stands. I wish I had more done thus far but work has takin out a lot of time. Let me know what you guys think!

Garage
Old Engine
New Engine
Exhaust, rotors, some suspension stuff etc etc.
Engine Bay
Interior
Intake
Mad Tiny Battery

I didn't get a picture of the Moroso Oil pan, but you can see the box for it in the garage pic. Axles and Headers come next week and then Im all set on parts. I wish I could get the inner tie rods off *cries*. Anyone have any hints?

Holy crow it's like Christmas in there.

As for the inner tie rod, I'm not exactly sure what that is, but I have heard of the use of heat to expand a part so that the part inside it comes out easier. (Disclaimer, I have never done this, consult the appropriate experts, etc.)

Yeah I tried using a butane torch on it but I gave up after a while since it wouldn't budge.:(

Looks like a B18C5 with the red valve cover. Here are the specs for someone who isn't familiar with the engine:

Displacement (cc):
1797

Power (bhp@rpm):
195 @ 7,800 rpm

Torque (ft/lbs@rpm):
130 @ 7,600 rpm

Compression Ratio:
10.6:1

Bore (mm):
81

Stroke (mm):
87.2

Cam Design:
DOHC

Valve Train
VTEC

It's the stock engine of an Acura Integra Type-R.

Did you also get the Type-R trany?

I've sat in a friend's LS VTEC once and it was pretty crazy.

Cloud Strife, I wish I had a B18, if you zoom in on the pic you can almost make out the stamping on the block. Its actually a B16, but it's making around 200hp thanks to me. I plan to go all out on the engine later but for now, getting it to run would be nice

Edit: The limiter is removed as well and it goes to 9000. Supposedly I can top out at 160ish mph but I would need new front tires for that. The tranny is a YS1 so its pretty short geared. Apparently, doing 75 or so on the highway puts me right below where VTEC would engage so you can get an idea from that. I'd rather take acceleration over speed anyways :D

Another reason I like the B16 so much besides it's potential (even though every engine has that) is that it has the perfect stroke length. Reliable and fast, hurray!

Awww, don't hate on 1.6 liters. I know it seems like no horsepower compared to inline 6's or V8's but I dont have that big of a choice for swaps. Plus, when your car weighs 1900lbs, you don't need that much hp to go fast.

Is this going to be a NA build? ;)

For the time being, yes. I plan to build the head (retainers, springs, cams, etc) and then later on the block (sleeved, maybe bored, and either then high compression or low compression pistons) depending on which route I want to take then. I like N/A...but boost is undeniable after a while. I'm sure I'll get bored down the line and want to go faster. If I could get 400hp out of this engine when it's built and turbo'd, I'd be quite happy.

Sure is. 1991 CRX HF. We removed the A/C and some other stuff to get it as light as possible. I'm figuring it weighs around 1900 right now

So you basically are building what was stock in Japan? A CRX Vtec 1.6

:)

Hope you have fun and make sure to keep that thing hidden and under lock and key.

We need pics of the build and finish !

I have no clue how to do tie rods, on a front wheel drive car;
{ugh, I hate working on FWD stuff, like when I had a Civic CRX ugh,
it was fun to drive though. :)}

but on old rear wheel drive cars, truck etc... if the inners won't move,
I take the whole tie-rod off, and put it in a Vise, and heat with a torch,
till it will turn using a big pipe wrench.

Good luck with you projext. :)

is that one of those fancy dry cell batteries?

i've never seen it done on a FWD car but the tie rods on my explorer come out like this. pull out cotter pin, remove castle nut, position pickle fork, apply BFH to pickle fork.
